rj45 crimper

If you have a Fry's near ya, you can get a crimper for under 15 bucks. I've got one of them and it's serving me well 🙂 Just remember to "flatten" the cable when you cut off the outer casing or you might also cut the wires inside.

I got my crimper at Onvia for $15 shipped (now it's 16.51). It works great and is pretty solid.

Be sure to follow the proper instructions for crimping and you'll be fine.

<edit> I'm not sure what you mean by "crimps in the front" but with the one from Onvia you insert the cable/connector from the side of the crimper (very easy to use tho)</edit>

High-quality crimpers usually have it on the front because it crimps all the contacts evenly. Some cheapo crimpers that have a side hole don't do a very good job. I have seen some side-crimpers that are designed to do it properly. The more you spend, the better it is.

ahhhh - my inexperience with crimping shows😱 I've never used a front crimper.

Mine (from Onvia) is the one shown in the second how-to link I posted above.
