Why does everyone keep talking about performance issues with this game? I don't think I've seen it dip below 100fps. :hmm: :sneaky: :awe:

Pshh, yeah, if the rest of us could afford three 980ti's then we'd have good performance too. Most of us nooblings can only afford two 980ti's, and that's no way to play a game.

I know, right? Might as well be playing on a peasant console system at that point.

Joking aside though, I have now ran into an area that relatively tanks my frame rate. Thankfully it doesn't hitch or chug, it just gracefully slows and then goes back up depending upon where I happen to be looking. The area in Siberia where you acquire the lock pick, I've seen it dip down to around ~70FPS. I suspect this is due to the aforementioned reluctance to take advantage of multiple cores rather than a video card deficiency. Someone with a high clocked 6700K and SLI would likely have better frames than me there.

I'm running on a 780Ti and have very few, if any slowdowns or glitches. Worst thing I saw was a graphical glitch on an enemies glove and jacket. Hard to explain the glitch, but it didn't create any gameplay problems. Only thing I did was turn off VSync.

Hmmm - I wonder how my i5 SandyBridge with a R290 will do with this beast. I will wait for someone with those specs to review/post their performance. Don't care about the Hair, SMAA is fine , obviously shutting off the Nvidia stuff, if I can get to high setting on most other options at 1080P - then I will be satisfied.

Are there a bunch of "Quick Time Events" in this game? I hated those in the last Tomb Raider game.

Doesn't seem like there are even nearly as many as last time, at least as far as I'm into the game anyway.

I have an i5-4590 and an R290x. This game plays extremely well at 1920x1080 with everything turned to max. I am 25% in and have had no slowdowns at all. I do have all SSD drives so that may help a bit.

no not really. like the first games some counters/finishing moves have QTEs but they are not excessive and are generally just 1 button

Thanks guys= Sounds like its going to be purchased as soon as the first update comes out and I find a decent sale price.

Anybody else win a key through the Anandtech giveaway? 😎

I did. Hahaha 😀

I saw that they had 200+ keys and after half a day there was only about ~2300 total entries (final tally was about ~3300), and I thought the odds were pretty good 😎

Downloading it now.

I really like it so far, like the first but just more more more of everything. I am surprised the graphics are so smooth and fluid, Lara's expressions during cutscenes are amazing. Too bad though, with my specs I thought I would be able to do 1900x1200 60fps consistently on very high. I am getting about 50fps average and dipped to 25 in certain areas of the Soviet installation

DX12 almost a certainty for Rise of the Tomb Raider..

It appears that a DX12 update is practically a certainty for RotTR, which is awesome. Although this kind of game probably won't benefit from DX12's primary benefit that much as it's not CPU bound, I'm hoping they use DX12's capabilities to improve or add more special effects.

I also want them to use Asynchronous compute so we can finally end the debate as to whether Maxwell GPUs are capable of doing it properly..

Watch the game skip and stutter here. It looks like its due to a lack of Vram. Drops to 44fps due to stuttering. Game seems to need an 8gb card.

Nah I'm pretty sure it's an SLI issue, as I've already been through that area and had no stuttering..

Reminds me why I ditched SLI in the first place. Games generaly just play much better with a single card than multi GPUs, despite having lower fps.

I may be heading that way myself, but 1440p is still a tall order for a single card though. Ideally I'd like a single card, but I'll probably stick with SLI for a while. I can't say no to the extra performance.

So far my GTX 980Ti Zotac Amp Extreme @ 1500MHz has been handling it very well.. In fact, there's even been some improvements compared to when I had GTX 980 SLI in certain games like Batman Arkham Knight that require large amounts of VRAM and either don't support SLI, or have terrible support..

The only game that I've had to make sacrifices is the Witcher 3 where I had to get rid of HW for Geralt. I have HW enabled on everything else though by using a mod.

Just got the game and so far it runs well on both of my rigs below. Now, if someone PLEASE could help me figure out how to get Lara to swing on the rope and grab the ice as she is swinging. I'm video game "challenged"!:'🙂eek:

Yes I have keyboard and default. Trouble is when I think I'm close enough I hit the E and Lara swinhgs at the ice but doesn't grip. She swings back and after a couple more swings the other guy loses grip and she plummets to her demise!:'(

Do I have to hit another command at the same time as the E as she swings at the ice?🙁😵😱
