So I have this game on disk; is it really worth an upgrade to this new version or does it pretty much look the same ?

I was hoping that it would look a little better than it does, but it runs like a dream. Is there a way to get your dudes to stand ground? I honestly can't remember if there is or not.

It looks a little better. Thats enough.

Check the red box in the lower left corner.

It looks slightly better, especially with widescreen. It plays a little better. You'd have multiplayer access thru stream which is nice.

There are different stances for every unit, including hold ground. Also you can set buildings to a stance so all units produced there have the same stance by default.

That just makes them Halt/Stop, not Stand Ground. Standing Ground would be that they stay in formation instead of wandering all over the place as soon as they think they see a bad guy over the next hill. It helps put the S in RTS.

Edit: I think maybe it's because I'm playing the campaign. I'll fire up a skirmish later and see if there's a difference.

NO!

The red box cycles thru all the stances.

YES!

Clicking it only makes them stop moving, there's no cycling. Like I added above though, it might be due to the campaign for some reason. Last night and this morning when I was playing the campaign, it was just a stop sign.

You have to turn on the option for showing advanced unit options..
Haven't played for years but that should be it.

🙂

Wonderful game. 3rd fave after broodwar and total annihilation

edit:it's in menu - options/settings - game options

I wish they would do this with more historic games. Seems they were so much better in some ways, it's a shame. But I love that they are doing enhanced editions of classics, their just usually not the kind I'm too interested in so far.

Now how about some Wing Commander, Phantasmagoria or Police Quest, Blade Runner...etc

Woohoo, thank you!

Kinda bummed that there's no Workshop support, maybe in the future? It's convenient finding mods within Steam rather than hunting them down on various sites.

RoN had a pretty big mod community. Could remove the population limits and add more nations for truly massive battles. Don't know if they work with the updated game.
