Hi Everyone,

When I first set up my system (MSI Neo2, Winnie 3500+, 6800GT, no overclocking) I had a cheapo Thermaltake venus 7+ HSF. My temps were 40-45 idle, 55-58 load (measured via prime95 blend test). The rise in temperature between idle and the prime95 blend test is always about 14-16C.

Recently, I switched my venus 7+ to a XP-90 with the recommended panaflow 43CFM fan. My temps are now about 32-36 idle, 48-52 load. It certainly is signicantly better, but the rise in temperature between idle and load is still about 14-16C. Is this normal? I really thought an XP-90 was supposed to control the difference in temp between idle and load because it has a really good c/w.

Thanks,

Yan

I don't know what is normal, but my 3000+ @ 2300 rises between 5-7C idle/load (it's 38C idle, 43-45C load) with an XP-90

Two key variables you need to take into consideration are the Mobo make/model and the bios. ABIT mobo have a tendacy to report temps 10-12*C to high and Asus mobo's have a tendacy to report temps 5*C too low. Abit knows they have this pblm but can't fix it , but they try, and every new version of bios they try and tweak the temp pblm and things change.

The bottom line unless you are comparing your temps to someone that has the same model and bios mobo as you, comparing temps is sometimes meaningless.
