So your cPanel (domain.com/cpanel or domain.com:2082) prompt comes up? Maybe it's a password issue.

Remember your username is rh#### maybe try resetting your password?

Hey guys, my first post, but I thought my tidbit might be helpful for ripplehost users.

I've also had problems with accessing my account recently and came upon a solution. From what I can tell, only the ripplehost DNS is screwed up, but you can still access it through ip. I found their server1 IP address from an old email with the DNS Server ips.

In case you have no idea what I'm saying, here're the addresses:
66.246.44.78 Server1
66.246.44.79 Server2

Just add /controlpanel or /~rh#### to access whatever you need. Changing to ip for email and ftp should work too, hope this helped some better.

The dns is down or simply acting weird. I am getting sent email back from some clients saying their SMTP refused delivery becasue they didnt recognize the server.
Client host rejected:
cannot find your hostname, [66.246.44.74]

What you suggested also does not work. The issue seems to be with authentication of users. I can get to the server with the server2.ripplehost.com address. But it wont authenticate either of my 2 accounts with them.

Anybody else been successful with getting into cpanel?

I'm on server1 so I can only assume that the two servers have different problems...
I can access my ftp/cpanel on the server1, I never used their email so can't say much of that though.

This is unusual for them to be down for so long. I've personally always been able to logon to cPanel until now, tho' perhaps I simply logged on after a glitch was resolved.

FTP access works, and my site still comes up. That doesn't necessarily mean all is well. Some here may remember the multitudes of Bubble casualties.

If you have something important up there of which you have no backup, and you have FTP, I would suggest archiving now.

Yeah, it has to be a dns problem... does anyone have the ip address for ripplehost.com? (park305's suggestion worked for the server1 cpanel and ftp, but I need to get to the main site)

Park305's suggestion also worked for me. Not that it's a good permanent solution, compared to Ripplehost FIXING THEIR GODDAMN DNS! :|

Frequent back ups are always a good idea and are the USER'S responsibility.

Agreed. Which is why I pointed this out...I've seen some really smart people do some really dumb things when it came to backing up data. And if a provider goes tits up while you don't have a back-up, well...

Me? All my stuff is archived, on both CD and an external hard drive (I'm a little anal after some data loss I suffered about 5 years ago)

I just remembered that the admin Alan basically runs Ripplehost in the excess capacity from his "bread and butter" site, Splashhost. If you go to splashhost.com, there's this to say:

"We are currently moving our site to a new server and hope to have it back online as soon as possible. You can still e-mail support at the usual address."

That probably has something to do with the Ripplehost downtime.
