I was wondering what I should have with my antec sig 650... I've had it for 4 years now and its fan is designed to not run very high unless it is under high load.

How much do you think the caps have weakened?

Why don't they make the fan go faster under low load? Wouldn't that preserve the filtering capacity of the caps for longer?

High quality capacitors in hot surroundings typically last much longer than low quality capacitors in cool surroundings, and the Antec Signature series uses only high quality Japanese capacitors.

* 27%
* market demand
* too many factors to consider to try and pin on that single issue

Over time the ESR starts to rise in the capacitors, and capacitance usually goes down. I believe that PSU uses Chemi Con caps which are extremely reliable. I don't think you have anything to worry about. I would guess that the fan would quit before those caps do. If anything, the output ripple has increased a tiny amount
