If it's a good receiver, it shouldn't make much of a difference. That's what I do so that I can switch sources easily. Hook the line in of the soundcard to something like "TAPE 2 REC OUT." Make sure you're using the record control, not the play control to adjust the level. Let me know if don't know what I'm talking about with rec/play control. I use Cool Edit Pro to record and edit, and I accept no substitutes. When the recording process is done, center the wave (a preset under transform -> amplitude -> amplify), take a noise sample (record a sample of the tape hiss first), run noise reduction, normalize the volume to 100%, then crop the beginning and end of the wav. Finally, use Nero to split the tracks and burn the CD.
