Ripping DVD's - requesting some help

Hello. I've never really delved into the whole audio/video realm as far as PC's go. What I have here is my first DVD-rom, and I'm clueless as to how to take my DVD movies, and rip them into playable files on my hard disk. What do I need software-wise? PowerDVD came with it... if that matters at all. I think that's just a player though...

Thanks in advance!

Jay

And thank you Damage for giving the problem link.

And welcome to the world of Divx, xbox.

Actually, you were right with your original link. For some reason their site was a little messed up though.

hey guys, i got about 40 dvds, is it legal for me to rip dvds that i already own?
I'm pretty sure you can do whatever you want with media that you've paid for as long as you're not distributing it to others in some way. Like, making MP3s from tracks on CDs you own would be fine. Or making SNES ROMs from game cartridges you own...
