Hey everyone.

I am trying to capture DV from my camera via a firewire port.

I tried Virtualdub and found that I cannot do it on my machine with DV.

Now I am tryign WinDV. It reads my camera, I try to capture, but it never saves the file?

Any input from someone who has used this program?

Or do you have any suggetsions for other ways to capture DV?

Thanks in advance!

Almost any solution will do. I use all three of the following solutions:

Ulead Media Studio 7
Cyberlink PowerDirector Pro 2.5
Pinnacle Studio 7 or 8

All work fine with firewire, although (and this is important) you may need to capture in non real-time mode if you want to avoid dropping frames.

You may also need to make sure the firewire port is not setup for network use, however since you appear able to see pictures streaming from your DV camera, this does not seem to be the problem.

As you state, VirtualDub does not capture DV (unless by rare chance it has a VFW driver).

I haven't tried WinDV, but I've tried all the above packages using firewire packaged with:

nForce2 motherboard
orange firewire card
firewire card shipped with Gainward 4600 Golden Sample
firewire port on Audigy sound card

Any of the above combos should work fine.
