Honestly its not the down that matters as much as the cap. I just recently downgraded from 108 down to 30 down because despite the huge difference in speed and price ($64 vs $112) I only got 100GB extra cap space (350GB total on 108 plan). When I pay for cap overages that is $20 worth of extra bandwidth and I average 500GB a month so I would rather pay less upfront and put more of the difference into overages.

I was better off 5 years ago when I paid $55 a month for 28 down with no cap! 🙁

My friend down in town has Gigapower from AT&T with a 1TB monthly cap. That would be amazing.

TWC idiot here. $60 for 2.5mbs speed. It was ~$45 3 years ago. They just keep upping the price by $5 every year.

The only 'savings' they offer, is if I sign up for 1 year at $60 (pre taxes, fees, rentals, hidden charges, etc) and get the same internet speed, with phone and TV. Then, it will shoot up to $120 (pre taxes, fees, rentals, hidden charges, etc).

They know that no one really wants TV & phone, so, they are making the price of internet the same, as if you did have the other 2 services. In hopes that you sign up for the others, and just keep paying over $120 once the year is up.

It's a pretty raw deal. But, it's a sign that they see customer's habits. It's a shame they aren't addressing them,... nonetheless, they know we don't want bloated TV and phone services.

There is no competition in the area, to speak of. Verizon doesn't have FIOS. Google is no where in sight.

I figure about another 10 years before FIOS/Google starts rolling around in NYC. I can't wait.

What's sad is many are paying for higher tier DSL and not getting the bandwidth due to distance limitations.
