Ripley's: 2003 Viper vs. F-16 fighter jet *spoiler inside*

Dodge Vipers raced the F-16 -- nicknamed the "Viper" -- to the speed at which the jet became airborne: approximately 150 mph. The Dodge Viper covered the course in around 15 seconds.

I think my Camry hits 60MPH in about 15 seconds. 😛

hmmmm ...

i'd like to see the day

I'll second that. Even the interior of the new Viper looks like it came out of a Rubbermaid catalog.

Well the interior shot on Ripley's didn't look like your description. It had lots of chrome and siler accent on the dash and gauges.

Old news - 10 years ago Toyota shown that the Supra is more aerodynamic and faster at acceleration than the F16.

and? jets aren't made for low speed acceleration, and the F-16 will kill it on stop speed 😉 it's comparing apples to oranges.

It's not chrome. It's aluminum accenting around the gearshift and door handles. The rest of the dash, center console, and doors look like Tupperware.

And what's that? A Dodge Neon climate control and radio face in an $80,000 car?? 😀

The Viper in Ripley's had a different dash from what I saw, and not like the pic you linked to. However, I could be wrong.

I updated the link with a better pic. Take a look 😉

didn't motortrend do the same with a viper and jet? except it was lingenfelter (spelling) turned viper, 0-60 in 1.9

Looks like the last pic, which doesn;t look like what I saw on Ripley's. Maybe someone else can comment that saw Ripley's earlier. 😉

Well, that pic I posted is of a '03 Viper interior so unless it was some special one-off on Ripley's, that picture is indicative of what all '03 Viper interiors look like.

Hey, you can't get it all when you're looking at the fastest sub-6 digit car 🙂 Sooner or later, you guys will realize that this is a driver's car and not much of it is geared towards luxury. Thank god. The day that car comes available with an interior that stresses comfort over function is the day that car ceases to be a Viper. Go buy a car with an auto if you want comfort 🙂

0-60 in 1.9?

You sure about that?

Viper GTS

Doesn't(didn't) Hennessey have the fastest Viper at about 2.4 seconds?

BMW M3
Porsche 911
Masarati Spider
Acura NSX

All sports cars under $100,000 that don't have cheapass interiors. Even Dave Hill (chief engineer of the Corvette program) has vowed to improve the interior of the C6 after all the criticism of the cheapish C5 interior.

A quality interior doesn't have to = luxury vehicle. Your average Honda Accord or Jetta has a better interior (quality and materials) than a Viper. No one is saying that you should throw wood and carbon fiber in there, but for $80,000 you should get a bit more than Dodge Neon level interior status IMHO😉

But what can I say, this is Chrysler we're talking about. They wouldn't know interior quality if it bit them on the ass (well, the PT Cruiser is good...probably the best interior in Chrysler's stable).

Err... I don't think any street car has done any kind of 0-60 time in under 3 seconds. I think the Hennessey was around 3.1 or 3.2 seconds wasn't it?

Motor Trend tested Hennessey's 800TT 0-60 in 2.4 seconds in the 6/01 issue.
