I have yet to find a more official confirmation (obit) but it appears to be legitimate and definitely the same Russ that we knew here:

That sucks. Always hoped he'd return...I didn't really "know" him but it was a badge of honor to have been roasted by him at least once.

Oh wow... I just popped in here on a whim, and I didn't expect to see this! 🙁 I remember Russ from the Compucheap days, he was a really awesome guy and I'm sad to see him go.
