Who?

yeah, i read all the way down to your post and have idea who it is or what a "WOT" is

He's a semi-famous author. WoT is Wheel of Time, the name of his most famous series. Had it lived up to the expectations set in the first 2-3 books it probably would have become the single finest fantasy series in history. Many/most are disappointed with the later works in the series, but it remains an icon of the genre.

IF it would have ended at book 5-7 it would be one of the best series around. Instead he chose to milk it and drag it out.

the last 6 books could be condensed into 3 good books.

the story dragged out so damn slow it turned many people away. it also made a great series into a stupid one.

That's not necessarily desirable... I mean, the Dark Tower was finally finished, and the last three book sucked.

RIP, he was a prolific fantasy writer. And he helped the genre and will thus be missed.

That being said, man was he a hack. His first 2 were good, everything after that were just 1 and 2 rehashed.

QFT And GRRM does not look like a healthy individual who will live to be 85, so he'd better get on it.

I started this damn series over a decade ago. After reading the first 6 or 7 books, I figured I'd come too far to quit now, and I had to see it come to fruition. I've been patiently waiting for it to come to a close for years now. After reading 11 of the 12 intended books, I'm more than a bit crushed that the final summation of 17 years of WoT books won't actually be written by him.

RIP.

Ok, went to the funeral.
It was nice.
It was not public - just friends and family.
About 200 folks were there.
The readings were Isaiah 55: 8-13, and Pslam 46, and Romans 8: 14-19, 34-35, 37-39, and Psalm 23.
They gave out a card with the program with a picture fo him in that big hat, and on the back is a quote from WOT.
The Wheel of Time turns and ages come and pass...
He Came like the Wind, like the wind touched everything, and like the wind was gone.

I hate it when I'm right.

I've been following the series since about '93, and after 5 books or so I started thinking about how much it would suck if Jordan died an left the series unfinished. I've had the same thought after every book release since.

I guess I called it. 🙁

FWIW, I think Jordan was a fabulous story teller and creator of worlds, but he needed a much better editor (his wife filled the role, IIRC). Each of the books could have been much abridged, with little loss to the story.

Yes, I think his death was the only way that the story could finally end.

i was under the impression that RJ had multiple people he scheduled to finish up the series if he passed.

Easy waggy, I think this is the last book in the series, partially written by Jordan and finished by Sanderson.

I agree with everyone who said the middle books could've easily been condensed. I specifically remember a few chapters where it was nothing but Egwene sitting in some tent thinking. I wanted to punch someone.

Yet you were forced to merely "sniff" and "pull on your braid" while your "breasts nearly fell out of your scandalously low cut top." I know the feeling.

There will never be another Jordan. No one can devote a whole chapter of a book on the color and cut of a dress like Jordan could. NO ONE! *tugs his braid and walks away, head held high*
