Well, my RCA Lyra RD2760 has finally bit the bullet. It had a HDD failure.....again. Couldn't get it back up and running this time with "precision dropping" on a table. Glad I backed up all the music. The HDD is even clicking. Guess this means I'll get to open up her tiny 1.5 Hard drive and play. Maybe I can find that thread with instructions on how to make it into a rose.

Guess I'll be searching threads for everyone's recommendation for a replacement MP3 player. 🙂

I know the thread you are talking about, but i cant quite remember what it was called. To make the rose he used full sized platters from the normal 3.5 inch hard drive. So you may not be able to do the same unless you have crazy dexterity.

I remember that KingNothing was the one who created those roses. You can narrow your search that way.
 
iaudio X5L if you have all your music bakked up and organized nicely. 35 hours of playback on 1 charge, 30gb, movie watching ability, great sound quality, only problem si no sorting by ID3 tags, which despite rumors, iaudio will probably NEVER implement.

anywho, RIP and get a gmini 400, or if u want a usb host instead of a cf card, gmini 402, or if u can wait, and want a inbuilt camcorder, get a gmini 402cc
 
my 1gb sansa came in today with some sennheiser mx-500's

me likey. the case for the sansa is...eh...lousy. it has *snaos* that make it not just tacky, but bulky.

otherwise i love it. J&R has the 1gb version for $99+S&H i think with a $15 MIR. also has an fm tuner (i havent used it yet) and an SD expansion slot to add up to 2 more gb of music 🙂
