I was fortunate to see him live at the PNC Bank Center in NJ for one of his "Farewell" tours in 2005... sure, he had lost a step or two (had to lean against the piano sometimes) but his voice still was amazing. I'm happy I got to see him once, because most of the time when musicians I really like die or disband, I always find myself saying "I wish I could have seen them live".

RIP Maestro.

He was one of opera's greatest singers, greatest performers, and without question imo its greatest ambassador ever.

RIP. :(

I never understood that sort of singing music thing. I'm sure however that people who love that will miss him a lot.

RIP

It's like having a chance to see Ali box in a legendary bout, Jordan play in game 7 of the championship series, Pele will Brasil to the world cup etc. I'm so very glad my wife and I got a chance to see this legend, along with Carreras and Domingo in concert. It was awesome........

Who are some other good living Opera singers? Andrea Bocelli is the only one I can think of, but I am a total n00b when it comes to Opera...

Sarah Brightman and Placido Domingo are the only two I can think of at the moment.
