Dear Logitech Z-560's,

Sure, we've been rocking very hard and kickin' it for the past six years, nine months, and eleven days, but you have finally bit the dust.

We're not paying attention to the first set before you that failed within a week, but when you were overnighted as a replacement I knew I really had a keeper. And how. The oldest component in my entire setup until today. Next in line to inherit the title: MX500.

We'll also forget about the left rear channel that went out as well, but in retrospect it seemed like a sign of things to come. But it took a lightning bolt to separate us.

Its ok, I won't replace you with the trash that Logitech and others put out today. More concerned about sound quality and less about SPL today since apartment life at both of my places I have lived at couldn't politely allow it. Looking at some Swan's to not tarnish the legendary pc speakers the Z-560's were to me and all the good times we had.

Sennheiser headphones on x-fi xtrememusic is the best I can do for now and you will be missed.

RIP Logitech Z-560's

My Klipsch Promedia 5.1 Ultras died a couple weeks ago too. I found some guy on eBay who fixes them and now they are good as new (better actually) I was mourning the loss for a while too. Maybe pick up some used Promedia Ultras??

just keep them on a power strip, those old things tended to use a decent bit of standby power. iswhy they stayed warm

contact Logitech.

People on this forum and elsewhere have had luck contacting logitech with old, malfunctioning products well out of warranty and having them serviced.

Worth a try!

I have some Klipsch Promedia 4.1s that are pretty damn old (6 to 7 years) and they have a short in the control box that makes it hard to adjust the volume while maintaining sound in both front speakers. Who is this service person you speak of?

My Logitech z-5500 are still working after 4 years, and I expect them to last at least until the end of this century.

I heart my 560s...one of the rears fell off the wall and the cone tore and I acutally found a replacement driver from parts express. Of course, I moved and now my 560s are functioning as a 2.1 setup, but they still rock.

lol I had this set <3. My friend just lost his last satellite this month. One satelite speaker going out about every year starting around the 3rd year of ownership.

I bought my Z-560's in 2003. They're still going OKay though the control pod seems to have issues and I sometimes have trouble control the bass.

 Yours are in a better place. Well perhaps not physically but you get the idea.

Ha... mine are about 3-4 years old and still work like the day I got them. I was very close to getting the Klipsch ProMedia 5.1's, but all of the stories about failing amps scared me away. I've been quite happy with my decision... though I think they would sound a bit better with a nice 2-way speaker instead of this singel 3" cone, but they're not at all bad for the price.

WTH. When mine started going south they gave me a huge run around. I linked them to about 50 forum posts where people were having the same issues. I finally got an rma number and ups'ed the controller pod to them. They said they never got it even though I had trackign that said they did and who signed for them. They made me send the subwoofer. Once they got that they told me it was going to be like 12 weeks till they could send my new set. It turned out there was an issue with the control pod and they were gettgin it fixed............

Anyways. Mine still work but my sattelite covers melted when I washed em and put em in the sun to dry. Wanna get rid of yours?

I had the Logitech Z-680's when they first came out but they died after about a year. Back to Costco they went and I used that money (plus a little more) to get my current set of Promedia's which I have now had for somewhere around 5 or 6 years. That set died a little while ago as I said, but now they are fixed and upgraded so the fatal amp cooling problem won't happen anymore, so they should be good for quite some time.
