RIP - Don Herbert AKA Mr. Wizard

Damn, I used to watch him all the time when I was little. My dad said that he used to watch him also when he was little.

i used to rent his tapes ALL the time when I was a kid in the 80's back in NJ

🙁

Wow. I loved his show as a kid. He did a good job breaking scientific concepts down to a level that children could understand. In some ways, his shows demonstrated one of Richard Feynman's principles that if he couldn't devise a freshman lecture on a topic, then he didn't adequately understand it, either.

i used to watch his show in the 80's when i was a kid. i still have that animation in my head of the ship going off the the edge of the waterfall.

omghi2u a youtube video link of the intro!

and to think i was waiting for the day for the show to be revived yet again so i could submit a letter to mr. wizard asking if a plane could take off from a treadmill. 😛

Probably one of the best shows ever made for children. It was not only entertaining but educational.

RIP - He led a a good life.

I would travel and give a eulogy if I could.

Dear Don Herbert,

You made learning fun. With your easy to understand and very fun experiments the seed for my love of science and learning was planted as a young boy. I will never forget your "glue boats" and how you showed me what surface tension really is. Through all my college classes nobody ever explained and demonstrated it so succiently.

Oh how I rushed home to catch "Mr. Wizard" to see what was up next. You in all aspects shaped my life with your love of teaching and learning.

Most of what I know and understand of the natural world is by you. You are the world's best teacher and I am sure that I am only one of millions touched by your work. May you rest in peace. Your life and teachings are what I stive for.

Thank You Mr. Herbert. You are loved more than you will ever know.

Rest my friend. Rest Mr. Wizard.

Thank you,

John

Mr. Wizard was my personal hero. He will be missed. May he have peace wherever he is.

He turned me on to science and that has carried me my entire life.

Thank God for Mr. Wizard. 😛

Awwww damn.... I got really sad when I read that. 🙁

He was a great guy.

RIP.

Bummer. I was born in '72 and watching Mr. Wizard's World through the 80's was a staple of my childhood. I learned a lot of neat stuff on there and always looked up to Don.

RIP

Watched his show more time than I can count.

🙁
