then again, I keep forgetting that half ATOT wasn't even born when the Celtics last won a title with DJ in '86 :roll:

No way. This was much too young. :(

I was always rooted more for the Lakers (Knicks fan here, so that might explain it a bit) but you had to respect his game and his defense. Tough loss for the Celtics legacy.

Len Bias, Reggie Lewis, and now DJ. Sad that all of these guys did not live a longer life. Condolensces to the family and friends of a hard nosed scrapper who worked his tail off on the court.

Not to stir up controversy, but why were the 2 main African-American players- Johnson and Parrish- not given consideration for coaching or management positions post-retirement? Bird, McHale, and Ainge were all at least head coaches or rose high into management or ownership soon after their playing days.
