Riots in Cincinnati, what's the point?

Ok, I don't mean to offend any African Americans here, but really, I just don't see the point of these race realated riots. Yes more black people get shot, but if you look at the stats more black people commit crimes in Cincinnati. So it should be expected that they get shot more. Now, all races have fine upstanding citizens and all races have criminals. Anyway, my main gripe is this example of four events with one variable:

White cop shoots white unarmed criminal in self defense. "Fine, ok, the criminal was unarmed, but it was still in self defense. The officer did the right thing." No more questions asked.

Black cop shoots white unarmed criminal in self defense. Same as above.

Black cop shoots black unarmed criminal in self defense. See response above.

White cop shoots black unarmed criminal in self defense. And wow, good Lord this cop must be racist! There is no way it could have actually been in self defense, even though the police department said it was.

Yes, I support a reasonable investigation into incidents like this, but when the police dept. says it was in self defense, it was in self defense. If a black officer had shot the kid, I'm almost positive it would have been a different response.

My theory is that African Americans were so used to being discriminated against for so long that they can't see that it's finally coming to an end. Sure there's a little bit still going on, but not enough to be causing this much unrest. But still there are those people who don't want to give up the fight, so they find new, and in my opinion silly and sometimes downright dumb (as in this case), excuses to protest.

Ok, that's my rant on what's going on in Cincinnati. I hope I have not seriously offended someone. This is my honest opinion, minus a few typos maybe:) I also hope that leaders of African American society call an end to this nonsense.

With respect to all races,
Swan

its just another excuse to destroy their own neighborhoods and get something out of it. I mean looting.

Everytime there is a riot, the first thing you hear about is all of the looting going on. It would be interesting to see the amount of people on welfare, or other govt. funding who loot. Damned freeloaders...

i actually disagree. while that may be part of it, i think the large issue is that they have a problem with taking responsibility for their actions. the rich african americans don't really protest anything, so we're just talking about the poor ones here. they're poor, and they look around and see rich people, they don't want to admit that it's their own fault they're poor, so they find something they can blame it on, usually the color of their skin and "the man".
