Maybe that's allowed in their state. You can't do that here in CA, that's for damn sure. Shoot someone while protecting your property during a riot? Pshh. Good fucking luck getting out of prison. Protecting your property with a firearm in CA is a one way ticket to a wasted life behind bars, so that pic means nothing to me. I would be forced to abandon the business and let it burn.
If what you're saying is true, that's a damn shame it has changed. Business owners during the LA Riots protected their property with firearms.

They didn't have to shoot. Just bringing manpower and weaponry was enough to convince roving bands of looters and vandals to move on to softer targets.

1) National guard should have been there to protect the stores. 2) They should have made it clear that if you loot and vandalize you will be arrested. 3) They should have waited until the morning to put out the verdict. Doing that at night was a huge mistake. It's much easier to secure a city in the day time then it is at night.

This is what happened to those who didn't protect their property:

Yeah, and those "peaceful" protests along the Interstate in the Grand area? Lots of broken windows, damaged cars, etc.

If it's an insured loss, I wouldn't be putting my ass on the line standing out there with a gun in the middle of a riot either.
If it wasn't insured, I'd move all the car inventory out of the hood as a precaution :)

1a) .mil has no obligation to protect private property.
1b) Governor doesn't like the possibility of bad PR
2) There were 60+ arrests, including some looters. But with that many "protesters" it's impossible to have enough manpower to be everywhere at once. Not to mention you have people screaming about police brutality so you have to treat people with kid gloves
3) Timing wouldn't matter. There is an element in Ferguson which wants to burn everything down, regardless of the outcome

County Guns is located in that strip mall.

I commend the store owners for putting their asses on the line to protect the public.

Last thing Ferguson needed was a bunch more armed looters (beyond what they had last night).

It would be difficult thinking about the person I killed, even though I might have to. What if they would have turned their life around some day? I guess when they are coming at you with bats and torches that doesn't matter so much at the time. America is exceptional.
Damn straight. I guess stores in the non gun owning countries would just get looted. Mob rules.

If they protected their property with guns, then they broke CA law and they are lucky to not be in prison for the rest of their lives. CA doesn't like this kind of thing. CA would rather you to die in a fucking riot fire than have a capable firearm in your possession. Wut you don't agree?

Funny no one dare to yell "no justice, no peace" and did their early free Black Friday shopping with those armed people. :D

Folks, if you do not learn from the LA riot, Katrina, and now this, you have no one to blame but yourself. Criminals WILL prey on the weaks and would NOT dare to take on the strongs.

To be honest, I think the world is better off without those cars... especially that Pontiac Aztek in the middle. :sneaky:

I'll be sure to form a well armed militia in Orange County. You never know when you might be attacked my an angry mod of soccer moms if their favorite spa goes on strike or something.

Maybe it's because I'm from California but personally I think people guarding their property are idiots. Insurance covers this. Go somewhere else. My life is not worth a computer, car, or building. It's worth so much more. Something in our society has made people stupid where they are willing to needlessly risk their lives. In this case in particular you would have to go full retard. There was enough time for everyone to move everything but the kitchen sink out of town. We all knew the riots were inevitable.

Sactoking said insurance usually does not cover riots and such.

That works great in a civilised society.

Unfortunately, this ain't one. (See home invasions, murder, etc. that happened last night in Ferguson)

very sad, instead of peacefully protesting etc.. they gotta loot, riot and cause mayhem.
No excuse for this type of behavior.
