It's a shame though. The populace of Ferguson had a great chance to show everyone that they were not the stereotype and could rise above the low expectations and little faith that others had placed upon them leading up to last night.

sad. All this did was justify the racist remarks made against them before hand.

I feel bad for the shop owners. they did nothing wrong and they get ruined.

They did do something wrong. They set up shop in that shithole town.

what lesson? besides the ones the KKK types will be shouting out.

It would be nice if people learned that burning their neighbors' property to the ground and stealing everything they can find only confirms peoples stereotypes.

I don't think any lesson will be learned but if Obama had a son who got in an elevator with a white person who looked uncomfortable perhaps it's not baseless bigotry but a remembrance of Ferguson. What that place will become, and not for good, is a factual basis for reinforcement of stereotypes. Rioters and Sharpton are the worst enemies of the millions of responsible citizens who are black, not the KKK as the latter are seen for what they are by most. Their violence has been replaced by that of the mob. Lesson not learned.

The local cops had the opportunity to show they did not fall into their own stereotypes also when the last protests were occurring but they decided everything else but thorita was pussy bullshit.

Rubber bullets can seriously injure or even kill people. They do have plenty of tear gas (CS), beanbag rounds, and flashbangs though.

This.

Tear gas is probably the right shit to use to deal with rioting. Fuck even Iran was using that shit some years ago but Gaddaffi seems to have just said fuck teargas and tried to fly airstrikes against Benghazi and it is obvious what resulted from that dumb obnoxious bullshit.

The media, particularly CNN, share some blame here as they took sides early on with little data or facts to support there statements. They ginned this up all along and hours before the announcement was made they were playing footage of earlier street violence without indicating it was previously recorded. They acted, whether intentionally or not, in a manor that increased tensions and made no effort to confine there statements to the facts.

CNN took sides and after the prosecution released the data/facts CNN continued to try to spin thing to support there stance in spite of the clear and convincing evidence to the contrary.

I used to think CNN was pretty good but the last decade or so has seen the once great CNN become a joke. A joke, that is, if you discount the serious harm they've done in this and other cases. I don't understand why they are doing this.

Sadly, they will pay no penalty for there actions and in fact, the rioting they are partially responsible for creating, will provide them greater rating and thus increased profits.

This is a sad time.

CNN is still reporting that he had his hands up. I read a bunch I'd witness's reports and none have mentioned that

Well, the cable TV news stations should be happy, since they got the race riot that they were hoping...er... preparing for.

Hundreds out on the streets this morning and they are all news media.
Looks a little silly.
Pretty much empty streets except for the news tv media standing around like a cluster FK.
If the media left and there were no cameras, I'd wager things would return to normal.
At this point, the media and the cameras have become the story, not the story.

I'm pretty sure people burning their town to the ground is still the story. :hmm:

Did you ever see what Aaron's charges to rent those suckers monthly?

It's highway robbery. People should be protesting that instead.

There's a difference between legal (and unethical) and blatantly illegal and unethical.
