He really pisses me off in this area, it is like he considers the troops something to be bothered with rather than responsible for.

Nice gutless political cheap shot. How about this one:

If George Bush didn't contract-out the capture of Osama bin Laden at Tora Bora, needlessly attack Iraq and left the force strength necessary in Afghanistan to finish the job ..... we would not have lost those eight brave soldiers today - because we wouldn't be there.

How's that?

Great, now we get to listen to the far right cheering the deaths of U.S. soldiers.

Don't forget it wasn't Obama that invaded Astan and then before we finished there invade a second country for no reason. How many of our soldiers have died needlessly because of the bloodlust of christian conservatives?

Gutless hardly. I care more about our soldiers than most. I have many many friends and family there. My position is simple. I don't give a damn what political party, president or if God himself started the war there. What I care about is when a general who sees the battle first hand ask for support and is told, we'll think about it.

The president should have his focus on that war and those people on the ground until the situation is under control. Not worrying about how good he looks on tv, whether he can get the olympics or whether he can pass health care reform.

Obviously you make no exceptions to this. Like for instance if the president wants to travel to Texas and see how his ranch is doing.... or fly to camp David check out the weather at Camp David for a week.

Congratulations Rio!

As a former Chicagoan (lived downtown) and someone whose parents live in Chicagoland suburbia, I'm glad that Chicago lost. Chicago doesn't NEED more sports complexes. Chicago's transportation infrastructure, while hardly ideal, probably would not really have been vastly improved even with Olympics money. Most of the Olympics benefit would have gone to savvy business owners and corrupt politicians. Homeowners in Chicago would have gotten increased traffic and higher taxes. I wonder how many poor people the politicos were planning on displacing?

There are pressing issues at hand...decisions need to be made. I understand that the General's report has been on Obama's desk since last August. Looks to me like a 'strategy change' is in the wind. I imagine that the political consequences are currently being evaluated.

You know Obama did meet with Gen. McChrystal while in Copenhagen. Amazing how smart people can actually do more than one thing at a time. Like working on health care reform while reforming credit card companies, running two wars while battling recession, chew gum and walk. You know, tough stuff.

If Clinton had decided to get Osama for real instead of sending some Cruise Missiles to destroy empty tents 9/11 may have never happened and we wouldn't have lost those 8 soldiers. Gosh, it boggles the mind.

If the US had never annexed Hawaii, then Obama really wouldn't be a citizen and thus he'd be inelligible for office and those 8 soldiers' deaths would weigh on some other president's head. Damn William McKinley!! *shakes fist*
