SonicBlue rebates are VERY VERY SLOW.

I recently got a check for a SonicBlue $50 RIO 600 rebate. When the check came, there was less than 2 weeks until the check was voided (it would expire in less than two weeks). The check was dated April 10th, but didn't arrive until 2nd week of June.

It is also $79.99 - $50 rebate at best buy = $19.99, but the 128MB backpack is $200!! WTF???
I opted for the 32MB Rio-one player for $80 - $20 MIR = $60, but it takes Compact Flash Memory. 128MB for $50 instead of $200.

Rio ONe takes SmartMedia, not Compact Flash. Less expensive, less power consuming.

32MB is good enough for audio books/spoken word/Dennis Leary standup, but not a lot else.

just went to BB to buy the PNY128M DDR. But found the same Rio at the price of $20 after rebate too! Price war again...

Doh i just picked one up....so the consesus here is that CC and Sonice blue reabates r very slow?? Are there any good comments about either companies rebates?

I picked one up anyway, no use pacing around CC deciding whether to get it or not while customers were scambling trying to get one. It's a decent player... with one HUGE disadvantage..... those stupid idiotic profit-making memory backpacks!!!

Obviously with memory prices falling, they needed to retain some profit margins on the Rios, so they devised a stupid backpack instead of the much simpler flash cards. I dunno, i'll probly return it or try selling it off ebay.

Reviews recommend otherwise. though it's cheap. I rather fork out some more $ to get a much better one. 32Mb is atrocious, in addition to the bad reviews...

Any good comments on the Rebate Center? The employee that you'll get to know on the phone line ' Shannon' is nice. She does not seem able to speed up the rebate, mine came in 6 months. Check had only a few days left to cash it . They don't miss a trick.
I like the 600 though, even with just 30 minutes it has it uses. 30 minutes on the treadmill (thank goodness it doesn't have 60 minutes).
30 minutes of Barry White plugged into my mini system ( wink, wink). I lot of good stuff happens in 30 minutes.
