Pretty gruesome pics at link:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...-doctors-refused-treat-him.html#ixzz2ueHE2Pr8

Mr Bogdanov, from the Russian seaport city of Kaliningrad, said he was badly beaten by a mob after ringing the bell and was even refused help by doctors.

He told Russian media by telephone: 'It seemed really peaceful here and the locals are friendly, all that changed when I went to a local temple to take a few pictures and I saw a bell which I rang.

'Apparently the bell is only rung on sacred days when somebody dies, and before I knew it there was a mob rushing up to the temple and I was dragged out onto the streets and kicked and beaten with sticks.

'Some monks dragged me away from the mob but they then didn't help me at all, and I had to make my own way to the local medical centre where the doctors had heard about my apparently sacrilegious act – and they also refused to help me other than giving me a few bandages.

First pic tells me he probably earned his beating.

Ok, that's some pretty harsh damage. Odd that he still has the wide-eyed look. Maybe just his natural expression. Maybe there's more to the story.

f'ing India, I'd go to Cuba before India. I definitely would choose India over North Korea. Maybe India over a few other essentially lawless places too but India is definitely toward the bottom of the list.

I am sure its not the full story, its a tourist city and it would not happen just for ringing the wrong bell. I am sure there is a back story, he must have ticked off the locals earlier by doing something, being a smart ass. OR they might have asked him not to do it but he still might have gone ahead and did it anyways.

Here's one possible reason

He see's a bell and figures hell he will ring it? WTF. this is where i start to wonder about the guy. why would you do that? in temple's. churche's whatever things have meaning. why would you go and ring a bell?

how about some fucking common sense.

Now that's not saying what they did was right or ok. its just another disgusting point on why religion has gone astray.

I agree with you here, I would never enter a temple or a mosque and open some random important looking book or ring a bell. However to get the beating o a lifetime over it that's what is wrong. If its such an important relic have someone watch it or don't allow visitor near it or maybe put up a sign so a visitor knows not to touch it. Hell put one of those glass covers bakeries use to keep flies off muffins and doughnuts over it.

Many rural parts of India are no better than rural parts of Pakisan or Afghanistan.

I bet that guy was being an all around douche bag and the village got tired of the foreign village idiot and decided to give him some village justice after he rang the village bell used for the dead.
