Getting my gf a ring for christmas (no, not that kind) and am unsure of her size. i do not want to come right out and ask her for that would seem way obvious

for a girl who's 5'7" 135lbs, what would you guess her ring size to be? 7? 6?

i hear 7 is the most common, but figured id shoot for opinions. i know this is not much to go on, but worth a shot

Does she have any she wears regularly or for special occasions? You can raid her jewelry box and take them to a jewelry store and they can tell you what size all of her other rings are.

yes, she wears rings all the time. that's not a bad idea provided that i have enough time to do so without her noticing

this may be a stupid question, but if i do get a size that's too small, can it get resized to fit a bigger finger? or does that only work if i buy too big?

Depends on the ring type, material, construction, etc

Just print out a ring sizer from a website and measure the inside of one of her rings...no need to go to a jeweler. That's what I always do.

bigger is actually better to size down. most rings come in a size 7 at the store.

make sure if you are a grabbing one of her rings, that it's for the correct hand you want to buy it for. the dominant hand is usually larger.

just do like they do in the movies with housekeys and stuff..

get some silly putty or something make a ring indentation in it and there ya go.

That way she doesn't miss the ring and she doesn't think you are gonna pop the question or are a thief.

Just measure the inner diameter of the ring yourself. Google for a ring size chart. Use millimeters if you can, the sizes are that close together. I swiped one of my gf's rings when she went out, measured it, and put it back all in about 5 mins.

You can resize either way.

My in-laws have a friend who wanted to measure the size of his wife's finger without her knowing so he snuck one of her rings, put it on his finger, and cut just below where it stopped with an knife. While I don't recommend this method, you could use a Sharpie in place of the knife or a carrot in place of the finger. I personally found out that my wife's finger is the same size as my pinky so I used that to measure for the ring.

This happened to me, i bought a ring for my ex, it was the wrong size so i rang up the jeweler and told them it was the wrong size, they ordered the right one and i just went in and swapped it.

I did ask them before i bought the ring can i swap it if its the wrong size though, so might be a good idea to check beforehand.

Its easy. Take one of her rings and put it on your own finger... take a pen and mark the top and bottom of where it comfortably sits on your finger... then goto the jewler and get their ring sizer thinger, and go through them till you get one that matches.

if she doesn't have a ring you can borrow to get the size from, get her the ring, go back and get it sized
