Jesus, even I wouldn't have predicted the stock price would drop so low...

How the co CEOs manage to keep their jobs continues to amaze me.

RIMMs board of directors is damn pitiful at this point.

The new OS is fucking delayed till late 2012? Holy shit.

The PlayBook gurus running the PlayBook beta are not happy with it at all

Oh.. this was probably the killer:

http://money.cnn.com/2011/12/15/technology/rim_earnings/index.htm

Making matters worse, the company also said that its future platform, BlackBerry OS 10 -- the cornerstone of RIM's turnaround plans -- will be delayed until late 2012. The company says it is waiting on the development of a special chipset for its new devices.

Ouch . . .by the time they get BBOS 10 out the door, Android, WP7, and iOS will have consumed any remaining customers.

But, at least their CEOs are taking a paycut. :p

Balsillie said that he and Lazaridis have decided to take a salary of just $1 a year, effective immediately. Last year, both made $1.2 million Canadian, which was around $1.15 million U.S. at the time. They also each took home a $1.2 million cash performance bonus.

Stock currently down 10.9% on TSX right now.

Seriously on the Playbook beta... I mean, I took it to work to get some use out of it, then i find out that it needs to install its own set of drivers with admin rights just to make it work like a USB stick. I'm not asking IT to do that. Would have been nice if it worked like a camera or real USB stick that just plugged and played.

Can't wait until they delay the Feb 2012 Playbook update... But I've practically written it off by now.

Their outlook looks terrible. But they make a nice amount of cash each qtr. They will become irrelevant far before they fold.

I have one because my company pays for it. I cannot fvcking WAiT for this company to die. My phone draws expletives from me on literally a daily basis. It is SO GDAmN slow I want to drink gasoline and swallow a match at times. And my phone isn't even that old. This company has rested on its laurels and just watched as the market has sped by it, churning out garbage for corporations that have not yet changed.

You should watch this thing try and load non mobile web pages. Even on wifi it brings the CPU to a crawl and they are barely usable. Also everything is laggy. Scrolling, closing things it all has delays that a good ui shouldn't have.

I often hope when my phone does something dumb that today is the day it dies so I can get the most recent one from corporate. It will still suck but not a much.

Lulz. It will be nothing more than brand of some competitor that buys it up. Rims future as anything resembling its current state is locked in and that lock in is death. It is actually breathtaking how quickly this company is losing market share. As a brand its name is increasingly synonymous with slow and missing the market.

Which company do you work for, and why are you still there?
That company wouldn't happen to be RIMM, would it?

No idea how you got that impression with my post! If I worked for rim I probably wouldn't want to see them die :)
Many corporations give employees bbs though.

Truck load of Playbooks stolen

12-17-2011

Truck thieves take millions in electronics

Chesterfield, Indiana - Police said on Saturday they suspect four or five people were involved in the theft of almost $2 million in electronics when a truck driver discovered his tractor trailer missing from a rest stop.

Chesterfield, Indiana police officer Mike Milbourn said the cab of the missing truck was found within a half mile of where it was taken but its trailer containing more than 5,000 Blackberry Playbook tablets is still missing.

Milbourn said he thought the theft of the 2007 Volvo truck Thursday on its way to Waterloo, Canada, was very well planned.

The cab of the truck had been parked amid a crowd of semis not far from the Pilot Travel Plaza where driver Jason Garant of Ontario, Canada stopped to eat and take a shower.

Police said the thieves evidently had a truck of their own waiting to take away the trailer.

Garant had picked up the Blackberry Playbooks from the Brightpoint company in Plainfield, Indiana. Police have surveillance video of two men watching Garant during the stop, Milbourn said.

Milbourn said the police hope to make an arrest in the case because they have retrieved fingerprints.

Why were they moving that many?! The retailers already have them and there's zero demand. :hmm: I smell a write-off scam.

I'm probably a PlayBook user in the wings. If PlayBook OS 2.0 came out in January, I'd probably pick one up, and I'm waiting until 2.0 to do so.

I probably won't wait until the end of next year though.

One thing I've come to believe is that there are no coincidences...

Does one have to be retarded or a total misogynist to buy one at >$200 nowadays (or whatever discount price for model is)?

I'm not surprised they are down to $200, but even at that price, why would someone buy one? I'd much rather have a Kindle Fire at that price or an HP Touchpad (which I bought for $100 but would pay $200 for one). I know it's got some bonus features like HDMI out and a uSD card, but everything about RIM seems like they took "day late and a dollar short" as a company motto.
