Wait.. wut? Author of book about wokeness can't define it?

Right-winger rails against "woke" — then struggles when asked to define what it means | Salon.com

Conservative author Bethany Mandel in an interview on Tuesday struggled to define the term "woke" despite the fact that she ostensibly wrote a book about the term, which has been co-opted by the right to refer to all types of things deemed to be liberal.
Bethany Mandel in an attempt to save herself makes up a story as to why she couldn't define woke and gets some hack at Fox to publish it as if it were fact.

Second even in this article she fails to define it.
Conservative mom who struggled to define 'woke' says interviewer demeaned parents on hot mic: 'I was rattled' (msn.com)

Journalist Jemele Hill gets it right by asking the same question as I have been,
Jemele Hill praised Gray's question, saying it was why she "tells journalism students that open-ended questions are better than questions that sound tough."

"When conservatives first hijacked ‘woke,’ every journalist should have asked them to define it. Cause these meltdowns would have happened a lot," Hill wrote.

Bethany ended the interview with a telling quote
"There's a lot of academic definitions of woke that are constantly changing, and I don't think that they're super pertinent to our audience. I think the reality and what's important is that this is a radical reorganization of our society that is detrimental and disorienting for children," she said.

"You know it when you see it," she added. "You know, when we see young men competing in women's swimming competitions, that is wokeness personified."

She's basically saying woke is anything we say it is while NEVER acknowledging the original definition. This wiki article gives a good summary. Woke - Wikipedia

White conservatives have hijacked the term and bastardized it to demean concerns of minorities and people of color. It simply means an awareness of injustice and inequity.

Spread the word. #takebackwoke

You'd think if there was an entire chapter dedicated to "wokeness" in her book, there might have been some research--but that presupposes it's a real book, and not just selling outrage and identity politics. But she works on her own series of right-wing indoctrination books for children and appears on NewsMax and OANN, while being Jewish. I guess she figures they won't come for her because she's "one of the good ones". Maybe she should research how that turned out last time.

In my opinion humanity is asleep, living in a self imagined world of negative associations that create duality out of unity via the process of naming things with language. It is language that creates thought and the negative associations that create fear. The fear creates the motivation not to face the origin of the negative associations in past experience, repressed memories and thus neurotic character manifestation.

The depth of the fear, the extent of the neuroticism creates a gradation of character from more conservative to more liberal.

At the extreme end of liberal lies the phenomenon of enlightenment, the holistic realization of the oneness of everything and freedom from the negative aspects of past experience.

In my opinion, then, woke is anything that causes an inner evolution from fear of feeling what one really feels to a capacity to experience the joy to be had from infinite love.

Sleep is the state of feeling nobody, especially oneself, deserves happiness and that anything that suggests differently is a dangerous threat that could provoke memory of when joy ended for us personally.

Conservatives have been the perpetrators of “woke” and cancel culture for centuries, and still are today. Projection all the way down
Conservative cancel culture early as 1966. They tried to cancel Elvis because he danced too much like those "darkies"

They know what it means, they are just trying to figure out how to turn, being understanding of others into something nefarious sounding.
Conservatives have always used nebulous buzzwords to avoid saying the quiet part out loud. "Woke" is just their latest way of saying that any exercise of freedom they don't like, by any person or persons they don't like, requires govt enforcement against.
Liberals need to take control of the narrative and speak the truth. Conservatives hate any freedom not their own and love big govt they can use against their fellow Americans they don't like.

Right wing media are just fucking liars and evil. Host trying to gin up racial resentment among white people.

Fortunately the brother went there to set the record straight. Fox would do the same thing but Newsmax beat them too it. I'm sure the lemmings believe the Newsmax bullshit

if you look back at history, religious conservatives have been destroying things they don’t agree with since religious conservatives have been a thing. They fought holy wars that still exist today, convinced they’re the “woke” peoples.

Seems fitting for this thread. I’m tired of all this woke GOP stuff, they seem to think attacking a fractional portion of the populace is a good look.
What else are they supposed to do, propose policies that actively help the middle and lower classes and/or society at large, at the expense of the upper classes?
