Right time to get a Monitor?

I've been looking at monitors for a while now and have been watching for IPS and 27" deals. I am upgrading from a 22", 1680x1050 (5 years old) to this for gaming. IPS looks to be too expensive for 27" at the moment so I was going to put it off as a later upgrade. I found two 27" monitors on sale for $240 and $270. Is now the time to upgrade? Or is there something around the corner that I might be missing? These two are 1920x1080, but the only 1920x1200 on Newegg is a HannsG that seemed to have a lot of bad reviews (mainly for defects). How long will they continue to support 16:10 on software? I wouldn't want to get it if in a year I would start having black bars because only 16:9 is supported.

IPS is not ideal if your mainly using it for gaming. The response time is notability slow for games.

1920x1200 is rare these days. You can still find them but you typically pay a premium since most of the market has gone with the 1080p standard of 1920x1080. That said, many games do support the 16:10 aspect ratio and probably will continue to do so.

These are ok monitors but they aren't that great.

I would say these are better options in the 1920x1200 field (for more money though):

If you want a 27 inch go with this:

I have the Acer in your first link and it's great. I picked my up for $250 right around Black Friday. For that price, it's a great buy. As the reviews mention, the speakers are absolute garbage, but I don't think you really buy this monitor for the speakers.

It's not an IPS, but then you already know that. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again and would recommend it for anyone looking for an affordable LED monitor.

IMO 27" offerings are either quite expensive or questionable quality. I stepped down to 24" for this reason, and haven't been disappointed by the Dell 2412M. Big screen is nice, sure, but size isn't everything, and I felt current 27" offerings sacrificed too much or were just too rich for my blood.
