Rig 1 - XP...Rig 2 - 95 - how do I share broadband?

I've got a Belkin Cable/DSL router (I just got broadband). I installed the router's software on my XP rig just fine, but when I try to install the configuration software on my 95 rig, it says that it must use 98 or greater.

Now, I KNOW that there's a way to get the 95 rig to share the internet connection with my XP rig, and I KNOW that there's a way to bypass the dumb Belkin software and just use Network Neighborhood to input the settings.

My question is, what settings should I edit in NetNeighb on my Win95 machine to enable it to recognize a broadband connection and share it through a Cable/DSL router?

Thanks!

Probably don't even need to install any software.

I would have just tried to straight up connect everything and see if it works.

I think you only need the config software on one computer. This software allows you to change settings on the router. For the Win 95 machine, you need to have it set to get a IP addy automatically.

Networking Forum - Some great folks in there.

Some things you'll need to configure: use DHCP, optain ip automatically, etc.

And yeah, I doubt you'll need to install the software on the 95 side.

this is a general hardware question IMO...

if you have a hardware router than just use that... (cant help more - never had one)

i share broadband with 4 other comps here and all i have is Winroute Pro installed on the comp that gets the direct connection and it shared it on all other comps perfectly with absolutely NO configuring anything on the other comps, given that the LAN works in the first place...

highly recommend Winroute Pro ! :)
