Hi all,

Anyone know anything about RieselSieve? I have not been able to upload for a few days now and cannot get to the web site.

Hi, Perry--

I just pinged it without success. It's hard to tell if they are off the air for maintenance or for good.

I heard rumor that one of the admins is MIA and the second admin can't get in contact with him. This came from the shout board on BoincStats so reliability is questionable.

From shout box:

@bryan and Lee at Riesel Sieve: Hey guys, I dunno if you had a falling-out or something, but it's pretty crazy not having any info about the project apart from the few posts that bryan's made here, saying he can't contact Lee!

@Seejay - I wish I had news, but nothing to report at this time from RieselSieve, unfortunately.

We're unfortunately down. Lee was moving the servers on Saturday (it was coming, but I didn't expect this soon), but we've been down since then. We also haven't heard anything regarding the status of the servers, so we're kind of in a holding pattern.

There wasn't a posted notice. It was originally supposed to be a 30-minute (upstairs to basement move) that was going to take place in a week or two. I literally got about 5 min. notice. The move was supposed to take an hour or so max. My thought is that they had to be relocated to another location, but B2 doesn't have internet access yet. It's all quite weird, honestly...I wish I knew more.

If anything, more people are hanging out in #rieselsieve, waiting for news...

I just got back from a week and a half's vacation to discover my RS tasks that were due on the 4th never managed to upload, so presumably they're overdue and thus worth no credit. 🙁 Assuming of course that the project even becomes available again.

'Til then, it'll be Orbit@Home, which is good, since the work units I have are literally hundreds of hours long!
