I have a fairly new 20 hp Craftsman I bought last Fall that had a locked up end(bent rod), I bought a used 18 hp engine to put on it. I have a guy who will swap it over for 60 bucks but I want to attempt it myself. It looks fairly straight forward and it seems like only a few bolt hold it to the frame and I would have to remove the drive pulley. The only thing is my starter doesnt mount the same so I would have to find a work around for that

You're not doing an LS1 swap?

To be honest, I would have just paid the $60. You may be better off trying to find the starter that's meant for the engine you have so it will bolt up correctly.

lol, a pro lawnmower engine swap. 😀 I say just DIY if you're at all mechanically inclined.

What do you mean the starter doesn't mount the same? The engine you're swapping in should already have a starter... if it has a starter.
