btw, i know i don't have the best grammar but i never claimed anywhere that i did. it's just something you have to deal with, crying about it on the forums won't do anything.

I'm sure you never use slang with friends... You just abbreviated a pointless word, normal. That's 6 keystrokes to spell "normal" and 6 to spell "norms." Why abbreviate it?
While we're at it, lets dispose of abbreviations. They bastardize the lang. too. See the thread on QFT. No one knows WTF it means anymore. Is it "quoted for truth" or "quit fvcking talking"?!? They have opposite meanings. OMGWTFBBQ!
BTW, this is casual speech, content > correctness. If you understand the meaning of my message, then we have communicated. If this were a term paper or formal presentation, I'd wholly agree.
I make my share of mistakes. And I've been fortunate enough that those around me will point them out sometimes, especially when it made me look ignorant. I'd prefer not to make the same silly mistake again. But if you just "don't care" how you look to others, by all means, keep using whatever "words", be them real or not, as you see fit. I'm lucky that my friends feel that I am capable of learning and that I am secure enough in myself to take a little constructive criticism without feeling resentment towards them. It's nice having friends that care enough about you to help you improve yourself.
Although it can't be proven scientifically, I bet there will be at least one member who sees this and thinks twice before using "rediculous" next time. So I submit to you that it "won't do anything" is wrong.

And yet I am the one being called a "nazi"... Kind of makes you wonder doesn't it? I have to be tolerant and not point out someone else's mistake even if it looks poorly on them. But if I do, I'm branded with one of the most hated group names of the modern era, and told multiple times that others wish I would die. Seems to me like something of a double standard is being used.
I do find it strange that I am the one who has no friends, yet I have an Average Posts Per Day of approximately 1/5 of yours.

Cool! At least you seemed to take it in the lighthearted nature it was intended to be. Not many appeared to catch the
at the end of the original post. I did find it interesting that so many became defensive (and offensive in a couple of cases) when I directed it at no one in particular. I was hoping for more of a discussion like yours. Some seemed to have taken it very personally, including one for whom I have a good deal of respect for the way he handled himself in these forums recently (who now wishes I would die).
And I wouldn't go into a bar and do something like that. However, the patronage there would be very different. I would expect more from a forum member of a quality tech site, than the average bar regular. And yes, I do go to bars from time to time... Just as a whole, I would expect the average intelligence of 2 places to be different.

And I make a distinction between slang, abbreviations and misspellings. WTF, QFT, etc. are abbeviations. Like slang, their use was probably intentional. "Rediculous" on the other hand, was probaby not misspelled on purpose, except maybe in this thread.
Yes, content > correctness. However, they aren't mutually exclusive. We are all capable of much more than we are today, thus my response regarding the lowest common denominator. Why settle?
