My girlfriend moved back home for the summer to take a class at a community college and she just got a job at a grocery store across the street from her house. Turns out the store has a pretty stupid (at least in my opinion) on buying cigarettes and alcohol.

You can only buy them if you are at least 23 and have a valid Illinois ID.

I will not purchase anything from BestBuy because of thier extremely poor return policy.

My local Wal-Mart only sells tobacco products at the register closest to where they keep all that stuff. Just imagine how long that line gets.

Funny thing is the store hasn't even opened for business yet. Their grand opening is on Thursday.

They must have been experiencing problems with underage individuals from Indiana coming across our border to purchase booze and smokes!

;)

I won't buy from them because there's nothing I can get there that I couldn't get cheaper online and I hate the poor customer service, which ends up being customer harassment about warranty at the register. Screw bestbuy, it sucks.

yea wassup with this restocking fee crap?
i wanted to buy a cheap laptop to take with me on my trip to FL..to store pics and check email and whatnot. but i have no actual need for a laptop...so i planned on gettin one...then returning it when i got back within a week (i really take care of my stuff and would make sure the thing doesnt get any scratches). turns out that BB charges a 15% restocking fee. i thought only online stores do that. oh well. i decided against buying a cheap laptop. will see if one of my friends has an old one i could borrow

Only reason to cross the border and buy alcohol is Indiana's No Sales on Sunday law. :p

I've never been hassled about any BB return. Defective DVD exchanges, electronics, etc.

Their grand closing should arrive about next tuesday then. People are going to come in who are 22, bring beer up to the counter and get pissed when they can't buy it. Or 20 years trying to buy cigs the same thing.

They should just stop selling that stuff altogether, it would piss people off less.

You're mad at Best Buy because they won't let you take one of their new computers on vacation with you for free?

I don't blame Best Buy's return policy, I blame your scamming policy

Yea no sh!t, you are the reason for the 15% restocking fee. Do you realize that when you return that laptop they now have to sell it as an Open-box product, and lose quite a bit if money on it?

Not really considering the restocking fee. Their first deduction for Open Box Items is 10% and almost all items especially computers sell at that 10% off.

I've never been hassled about any BB return. Defective DVD exchanges, electronics, etc.

Awhile back I purchased a 32 inch TV from them, it was defective from the get go, I brought it back for an exchange, they stated that it was their last one and that particular model was discontinued,OK, I want my money back, the clowns at the return counter stated that because the purchase was over $200 that I would receive a check in the mail, this was the same day I bought the damn thing, screw them, I ended waiting almost a month to get that check, then another week for it to clear.

BB's return policy is the direct result of this scammer's (as well as thousands of others) lack of ethical integrity.

sounds like a form of bait and switch..OD pulled that on me once..had paid cash for an order(in excess of $200)..had to do a return(same day)..they said had to be a check from OD would only take a couple of weeks..2 months went by..rediscovered my paperwork..checked bank statement ..never processed OD check(never rec'd)..went back to store with paperwork..the district manager was in(lucky me..very unlucky for him..:|)..worked him and the location manager(was same one who did me on 1st return) over for 1 hr..left with my cash and 2 $25 gift cards. Anytime I pay cash..and need to do a return..better have my cash if its same day.

Maybe the reason they chose 23 as the cutoff is that most fake IDs show the person's age as 21.

There's a grocery store chain in Richmond that closes on Sunday and they don't sell alcohol at all.

Ukrops is the name.

I could have sworn I heard it was illegal to refuse to allow someone to buy those products if they were of legal age?

Nope. Alcohol and Tobacco can be refused to anyone.
