Bus drivers here get the living shit kicked out of em. Absurd how some people act towards bus drivers. Couple of weeks ago some guy stabbed a busdriver with a knive for not letting him on the bus cuz he didnt want to pay. Several cases of missabuse and people using tazers and putting the drivers into the hospital.

Something is definetly wrong atm.

Sometimes I've been upset when a bus didn't show up, was late, or whatever... but seriously fucking up a bus driver because he's not letting you get on without paying - wtf?

Canadians in general are very passive, in times like these it really shows in a negative way. That bus driver had to go through several reconstructive surgeries and will never be the same.

Sad story, but there are psychopaths everywhere. Not sure why people are so hard on bus drivers. If you don't want to deal with a but, then walk, get a bike, or buy a damned car. People act like they are forced to take the bus then take out their misguided anger on the drivers.

Yeah, there's a lot of problems out west right now. Mostly due to the influx caused by the oil boom in Alberta. If you read the story though, this guy was apparently drunk as a skunk.

It's certainly not a job I'd want. Fare disputes are a common problem on public transit. There's so many bums that think they shouldn't have to pay, and are perfectly willing to resort to physical violence to get their way.

Yeah I heard about the beheading one too. Public transport is definitely cheaper than driving but I feel a whole lot safer in my car, despite the dangers of Montreal pot holes (craters), crumbling infrastructure and other drivers etc.
