Here's a dumb one, hope you haven't heard it (at least not here).

Three people rent a hotel room for the night. The manager charges them a total of $30 (or $10/person). They go to their room.

Later, the manager realizes he meant to charge them $25. He calls his assistant over to take their $5 back to them in their room. He gives him 5 $1 bills.

On the way to their room, the assistant realizes that he could keep some of the money and the people wouldn't know the difference.

He gets to their room, explains they were overcharged, and gives them back 3 $1 bills. They now have spent a total of $27 (or $9/person).

The asssistant walks away with $2.

$27 + $2 = $29

So...what happened to the other $1???

they paid 30
manger meant 25 so there's 5 dollars difference
the assistant give each person 1 dollar. so they paid 25 bucks and each got 1 back making 28 dollars accounted for. the assistant kept 2.
just add when you give them the 3 rather than subtract & add

I guess it works better when you tell it to someone out loud...your brain gets more confused!
