the planet mercury? wtf does that have to do with departing in the direction from which it arrived..

And how does it exist for only an hour?
 
I understand the hour (it only is visible low on the horizon. My guess to departing in the same direction is that over time it rises above the horizon so far, then goes down again.

BTW, this riddle sucked 😛
