Solve the Riddle, then post your own.

Here is one to start us off:

"The beginning of eternity
The end of time and space
The beginning of every end,
And the end of every place."

Here on earth it?s always true, that a day follows a day. But there is a place where yesterday always follows today!

Close enough, and probably correct. The answer I was looking for was Dictonary.

Here's a variation of a common riddle:

You are visiting an island on which two tribes of natives live. One tribe has black soles and always lies; the other tribe has white soles and always tells the truth. There are three natives standing near you. You can't see the bottoms of their feet, and indeed you find out it is extremely rude to look at another's soles, but you are curious so you ask the first man, "Sir, what color are your soles?" Now he happens to understand English, but he can't speak it, so he replies in his native tounge, "Glub Glub". You turn to the second man and ask, "Sir, what did he say?" The second man replies, "He said he had white soles" Now to be sure, you turn to the third and ask, "Sir, what color of soles does this second man have?" The third man replies, "Sir, he has black soles." Now the question is, what color of soles does the third native have?

Some of you will be familiar with these.. if you are, please give someone else a try!

I love this author and I love his mind!

-----------------
This thing all things devours:
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel:
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountains down.
-----------------

What is this "thing"?

What color are your soles?
If 1st is black, he would reply white....
If 1st is white, he would reply white....

Whate color did he say?
If 2nd was black, he would reply black....
If 2nd was white, he would reply white... <------

2nd has to be white soled.

Whate color soles does the 2nd man have?
3rd man says 2nd has black soles, so 3rd is black soled.

The first man would never say "My soles are black". Because if they are black, then he's a liar and would say they are white. And if they are white, then he tells the truth and so said "they are white".

So we know either way the first man said "Mine are white".

Since second man tells you "He Said he has white soles", and we know the first man did not say "My soles are black" we can conclude the second man has white soles.

The second man has white soles, but the third man told us he has black soles. Therefore the third man is a liar, and thus has black soles.

Alright...don't say I didn't warn you ;)

There is a room with three light bulbs (in sockets). Outside the room there are three light switches which are connected to the bulbs inside the room, though you can't tell which switch is connected to which bulb. You can't see inside the room, and you're only allowed to go inside once. How do you find out which light switch is connected to which bulb?

Seems simple enough

A boy was at a carnival and went to a booth where a man said to the boy, "If I write your exact weight on this piece of paper then you have to give me $50, but if I cannot, I will pay you $50."

The boy looked around and saw no scale so he agrees, thinking no matter what the carny writes he'll just say he weighs more or less.

In the end the boy ended up paying the man $50. How did the man win the bet?

Turn one light switch on for a few minutes, turn it off, turn another one on and immediately enter the room. touch the two lights that are off, and the one that is hot is connected to the first lightswitch you touched. the 2nd lightswitch you touched belongs to the light currently on, and by elimination, the third light switch belongs to the cool, unlit lightbulb

easy,

1st turn on 1 switch and wait a while, turn it off.
2nd turn on a different switch leave it on, and enter.
the lightbulb that is on is connected to the switch that is on.
touch the others that are off, the warm one is connected to the one you turned on first, the cool one was the one you never turned on

Edit: too slow
