Here are a couple from previous pages that have yet to be answered.. please no googling ;)

An iron horse with a flaxen tail.
The faster the horse runs,
the shorter his tail becomes. What is it?

This one is nearly impossible to guess. Some did Google it after no one guessed it and even after seeing the answer, they were thinking, "Huh?" I'd heard it before and it's definitely not an easy one and not likely to be guessed without help.

I would have never gotten it either, we'll leave that one as the bonus prize ;)
I think its a crappy riddle. The horse analogy sucks.

wait a min, has anyone here NOT googled that yet?

If not then theres not much point in continuing it :)

Agreed, might as well reveal it. That way, anyone who doesn't know it can go, "Huh?" Yes, I too agree that it's a poor analogy.

ok, lets kill that one..

the answer was: A needle and thread.

here is a new one

************

A true story: a white horse jumped over a tower and landed on a priest, who immediately disappeared from the landscape.
Where did this take place?

An art museum?

I think the real challenge here would be to come up with some new riddles, everything that is posted so far can be googled.

Kasparov, not being a numskull of sorts,
googled it too, while neffing in his shorts.

I don't see what is wrong with googling the answers to these. I mean you peopals didn't come up with these riddles on your own so why should we come up with the answers on our own.

Now having said that let me pose one for you that you can't google, because I just came up with it on my own:

Jimmy threw a horse into the water, but the horse didn't drown, why is that?

Agreed, but you can reword an existing riddle without changing the meaning, change names, etc. so that it would be more difficult to Google.

Here you go, hot off the press (with the obligatory rhyme):

Outside brown and inside white,
I travel the oceans day and night.
I wind up on a distant land,
I can be held within your hand.

Because the horse wasn't out of its "element®" and was able to swim.

The water was 1/16th inch deep? ;)

Yes, sorry if it was too easy, I'll try to make a harder one.

That was a good one, fairly easy, but it just clicked quickly. I don't think most people wouldn't thik of a coconut as going across oceans...

Might as well. I couldn't get any farther than "down on his luck" on the man/feather bed one.

Yes...
The chess one is considered solved, right?

I gave a hint, but no one ran with it. dnetmhz caught it, but not sure if others did.
