I also really liked it. Way more than pitch black. Pitch black was kinda meh.

Didn't think it was "meh" but thought Chronicles was a lot more enjoyable too. Doesn't mean it was the better movie but the pace, story, and history they tied in made it a better watch for me. Pitch Black had a unique style to it which I liked and got me interested in the Riddick character, Chronicles expanded on the character much like the Matrix sequels expanded on the history of that world.

Chronicles of Riddick was awesome IMO

I wish they would continue that story line instead, but this looks OK as well

Agree. I would like to know more about the Furians, elementals and necromongers, etc. As in why is Riddick such a bad ass?

I think Pitch Black was a decent movie, but felt that Chronicles of Riddick was a much more fun movie to watch. I think, like someone else did, that it's because of the world-building and potentially rich storyline.

This new movie looks somehow... small.

You have to make some assumptions since they don't explain it in the movie. But it seems like the human race started spreading out and colonizing everywhere, which lead to some evolutionary branching of humans. My guess is that necromongers discovered some alternate dimension that co-existed with our universe, and that conversion links them to it (and dying is an essential part of populating that other dimension).

All 3 races you mentioned appear to have some form of advanced matter/energy manipulation.

I think I remember the necromongers had a particular distaste for Furians, as in they were the only ones they couldn't conquer or who defeated them or something like that. Something in Chronicles about how the negromongers could "smell furian".

Loved Pitch Black. Hated Chronicles. almost as many plot holes as a star trek movie.. almost.

as for Katee Sackoff...

Another one here who wanted to see more of the Chronicles "world" -- was interesting and new. A lot of scifi is just retread stuff...it had a chance to have new ideas.

But the Purifier was a Furian too we come to find out, guess he wore cologne. :p

It was the Lord Marshall who didn't like Furians, the prophecy was that someday one of them would kill him so he basically went genocide on them.

Already seen this movie twice.

Will I watch again? Yes.
