I think he was a small time anchor/reporter in the Miami area before moving into the "big" time. He has been trying out a "tough guy" approach to his interviewing - he actually challenged the batty "Chief Organizer" of ACORN the other day and did as good a job as anyone has in holding her to account. Kudos for that.
He is a Cuban immigrant to the U.S. and I sometimes see him broadcasting in Spanish on CNN International. He also tries a lot of physical stunts, sort of like Gerardo Rivera. He is not just a talking head so I will give him that as well.
But I do think he is feeling that the CNN family is ready to send him back South to the Everglades and maybe replace him with one of those gorgeous blonds from FNN. Maybe he felt the need to renew his street creds.

I don't really get your point beyond you think Sanchez is too ethnic, you have a serious man-crush on Billy O', and you mostly watch Fox news shows for the bimboid eye-candy.

Hey, I am INTO Latin culture and I am happy that Sanchez is getting a chance in the big time - he really is better than most of the talking heads on CNN (in his manly, burly ex-footbal kind of way, says my wife.)

I don't watch O'Reilly at all, but I do watch his bevy of gorgeous female co-stars! Why do you think he gets the ratings that he does? C'mon, admit it. You tune in for a chance to see intelligent, beautiful women talk. C'mon, fess up!

Another, better argument would be such.

When people turn on the news they like to listen to NEWS. If you want to say Fox is to the right, that is ok, by all means Fox is to the right. What you are failing at is MSNBC is so far to the LEFT it is not even watchable.

The only thing I can say about CNN is that the TV news really sucks. I bet you CNN.com receives more hits then any other news organization.

I have never watched a full show of any of them from start to finish.
