That would seem to be the raison d'etre.

My wife and I actually got pissed off when we saw this ad. It is wrong on so many levels.

Perry and the people he was trying to impress represent something seriously wrong with this country.

Yes, it's called mesmirizing by a party that doesn't want you know that the only people they really represent are the 1%ters.

I think he's vastly overestimated the number of members of the Westboro Baptist Church.

The plan is to get the small number of people voting and drive everyone else away from voting at all.

So is this the final crazy nail in his coffen? Like promises of 2 dollar gas?

"kids can't openly celebrate Christmas or pray in school"

Last I checked kids could do that. Schools just can't force them to.

I can only reiterate what some folks have said here. Blatant homophobia and unbiased fears make Ricky a very mentally unstable man. I wouldn't trust him with my dog let alone the country.

Even funnier when Herman Cain was running he openly said he would not have any Muslims in his cabinet and no other member of the GOP called him on it.

In that case, let's exchange Muslim with whatever Rick Perry is smoking. Should Obama have Rick Perry on his cabinet? Something tells me you wouldn't have that.

Pander to christians, check
Attack "liberals", check
Attack gays, check

With an ad like that, how could you not vote for the man?

The red meat target for Democrats is the rich, not the religious.
Desperately false equivalency. Dems are all for rich people serving in the military, and have never opposed their right to marry, even if they're gay.

Why not say should Obama have christians in his cabinate. You know instead of the retarded analogy you just tried to make.

You seem to think you are scoring some logical or ethical point with your question. You aren't. Not even close.

I'm probably one of the very few members here old enough to actually remember prayer in school. This is like the fringe libertarians arguing against the Civil Rights Act of 1964 all over again, trying to bring back their version of the 1950s all over again (absent Negros, Elvis and anything else unpleasant to them).

I remember it quite clearly. Mrs. Roseman, my second grade teacher used to read us passages from the bible in the morining. Then one day she said she couldn't do that anymore. I thought she was about to cry. Of course Lee's birthday was a state holiday also at the time.

This whole topic is to oppose Perry on the basis of religious beliefs, as offensive as they are in that commercial. He is not fit for Obama's Cabinet, as Muslims are not fit for Cain.

You can say Cain did not make any distinctions. Of course not, and what distinctions do you give Christian fundamentalists like Perry? You oppose them just the same. It's their belief system you oppose and their religion is CORE to those beliefs.

Maybe that was a southern thing, I don't remember any bible verse reading. Here in New England we'd do the Lord's Prayer, replaced by a minute of silent mediation after the Supreme Court's 1962 rulings.

Obama must have started his war on religion early-he was one year old at the time.

Rick Perry is seeking to exert his beliefs on others. If Cain said he would not want fundamentalist Muslims hellbent on changing the laws of the country to distort the founding father's original vision then there would not be a big discussion. Instead he said he would not want a Muslim in his cabinet, which caused a justified uproar.

You are comparing an entire religion (Islam) to someone who represents a fringe and extremely twisted version of Christianity (Ricky Perry).

The Lord's Prayer followed the bible passage.

Surprising that even on P&N no conservatives really seem to want to defend this ad...

P&N conservatives are a more libertarian, and less evengelical, lot than the general population. Or so it seems. Accordingly, I wouldn't expect much defense of the ad. They'd probably defend it if they could figure out a way to, but it is what it is...
