This just in: The man who can't even remember the name of a few of the supposed 5 federal agencies that he claims to detest, is trusted to accurately recall and relate the nature of a conversation with a man he claims to detest.
And we have a President that can't remember how to spell respect. Oh noes...how can he be trusted to accurately remember the launch codes...we're doomed!

Thraashman is right that it was three of which he remembered two, but that's still a very valid point. Even setting aside that if two politicians are talking there are probably three lies being told, the recollection of the man who cannot remember his own Presidential campaign platform issues in the debate seems, um, somewhat less than definitive.

In 100 years we went from teaching latin and greek in school, to remedial English.

School barely teaches a young adult how to function in society, but you want to complain about science? We have kids finishing high school who can barely read, write or do basic math. And you want to worry about science?

You are not concerned about education. All you wish to do is push an agenda.

Science is important, it is up there with reading, math and civics. The lack of science understanding is why you have morons, some with power sadly, that don't understand what a theory actually is.

These morons vote and their collective moron vote impacts all of us. Science isn't an agenda and the fact that anyone would present it like that is one of the worst things to come out of the current conservative movement.

As for Perry one of the greatest things about leaving that state is that I only rarely have to hear anything about that mouth breathing idiot.

so bashing liberals was not enough and now you guys need to start bashing progressives.

do you even know what the term progressives means?

do you know about the party from the early 1900s?

believe that was actually founded or joined by a former republican president

When Perry turns down expanded medicare for his citizens thus hurting the poor and denying them healthcare, that is a vastly different matter.
Most any president would and should speak up against that governors actions.

Sure, the state citizens ARE of concern to the governor... BUT... of concern to the president as well.
Only a dumb ass like Perry would feel the president has no and should have no interest in every states population.
Its not like the citizens are only the governors concern and never concern of the president.

Just WHO is calling WHO the king and master here?
Sounds to me like Perry feels HE and only HE should be king and master, the only king and master of that states citizens, and the president should have no say in the matter.
Perry logic 101.

Republicans... what can you say?

‘I do not trust you to make decisions in your state about issues of education, about transportation infrastructure,’ — and that is really troubling,” he said.

Truth is a tough thing to hear. Maybe Rich Perry should pray about it.

Yep.

Theodore "T.R." Roosevelt, Jr. was an American author, naturalist, explorer, historian, and politician who served as the 26th President of the United States. He was a leader of the Republican Party and founder of the Progressive Party. Wikipedia

You can talk about engineering math and science all you want but if companies only hire people from India, who is going to go to school for a career you cant make any money in? It is the stupid federal government that lets all these companies hire people from India and gives them the visas to come here. Cant fix Stupid!

I notice nobody really believes Perry's account of meeting.

Probably having one of his "episodes"

That's because Rick Perry is a fucking idiot and the definition of the need for term limits. I'm sure he's very charming but he's also a moron.

...but no one denies gravity,
Do you believe Jesus walked on water?

....yet some (many) reject evolution.
So what? The evidentiary veracity of a scientific theory isn't properly measured by how ignorant some people are about it. Religious people are arbitrarily stupid. That's their (your?) problem, not the problem of science.

Maybe the evidence isn't as cut-and-dried, (meaning, being more difficult to demonstrate than the existence of gravity) because gravity can literally be tested by a freaking toddler.
No. The evidence for evolution is every bit as cut and dried as that of gravity -- actually moreso since there isn't any other equally well-established theory that is difficult to reconcile with evolution like there is for gravity.

Just my two cents. ():)
And it's worth about two cents less than that.

as much as i would support open immigration there would be a whole lot of issues that might need to be worked out

Its so cut and dried, they keep updating the theory. Its a theory and its not perfect. The fact that so many now take evolution as an article of faith is most amusing to me. We just know it works, not how but its there, supposedly.

As to the OP:

“I was a bit troubled today by the tone of the president,” he began, speaking at the Republican Governors Association Feb. 24.

Perry was describing a meeting at the White House earlier that day between several governors and President Obama.
“When you have governors, and we all compete against each other — we are the laboratories of innovation — and for the President of the United States to look Democrat and Republican governors in the eye and say, ‘I do not trust you to make decisions in your state about issues of education, about transportation infrastructure,’ — and that is really troubling,” he said.

Amusing. A Texan totalitarian telling off an Illinois/DC totalitarian. On the one hand we have Perry pushing to make it Texan law that girls be required get a vaccine (gardasil) that is questionable to their health and Obama telling everyone that he and his cronies know whats best for everyone's health.

the exact mode of operation is not completely worked out yet. that it exists more or less is fully worked out

Wrong. Evolution is as much a fact as gravity. The issues regarding why things evolved in certain ways continue to develop (genetic drift, various selective pressures, etc), but the fact that they did evolve is as cut and dried as I said.

We do know how it works. Evolution is what happens to imperfect replicators. Period. Current research is focused on why things evolved one way and not another, but to suggest that we do not understand how evolution works is to mistake your own ignorance for the current state of scientific knowledge.

This thread has devolved into one clan of trolls fighting another clan of trolls.

America's current education system is broken.

It is too expensive for the results it produces.

It teaches kids to pass a test and not think outside of the box.

Schools are more concerned with zero tolerance than critical thinking.

Creation vs Evolution has a place in our educational system...it's called philosophy.

You've demonstrated the the very best way to deal with Cerpin Taxt...simply nod, acquiesce, and tell him he's right, or you'd be argued into the ground about how wrong and ignorant you are...to no end, quite honestly.

He won't talk to himself.

Oh please, update your bullshit already.

Liberals hijacked the term progressive after they dragged the term liberal through shit for so long it started to stink. A more accurate term would be regressives which so many of them are.
