He was apparently a better administrator than other Trump appointees. He didn't try to break the department.
When he was appointed I remember reading a story about how he was taking the position seriously and was really working on learning what the DoE actually did. At the time I was WTF is he doing there, but compared to the rest of the Trump appointees he was great.

Well he held an executive position as Govenor of Texas. He may be a dufus, but I think he actually understood how government is supposed to work, unlike the other "best people" cabinet members.
Can't believe I'm actually vouching for him.

This, my gut tells me he’s like Bush Jr. Actually wants a functioning Government, wants to cut costs, doesn’t want to take bribes or real sleazy deals but an occasional back room deals are okay.
I don’t picture Perry leaning on some Ukraine guy to find dirt on Biden.

Maybe I’m wrong but that’s what I think

“Not a lot of people know this but, I didn’t even want to make the call. The only reason I made the call was because Rick asked me to. Something about an LNG [liquified natural gas] plant.”

Trump is now blaming Rick Perry for the Ukraine call...

Yeah but the problem is that the position was previously headed by a nuclear physicist... Actually, the previous THREE appointed were nuclear physicists.

So yeah, put in any standard governor, congressman/woman, etc... and they will always look like a complete idiot in comparison.

^^ Perry doesn't need to be compared to a physicist to look like an idiot. See post #51 for proof.

I know - I mentioned that already in #39

But here's some more funnies from him: https://www.mic.com/articles/162340...perry-got-a-d-in-a-college-class-called-meats

That's great, considering he's from Texas, and was Governor of Texas, he's a nincompoop. This class syllabus sounds like it would a required course for texicans

The online syllabus for Texas A&M University's contemporary "Meats" course, ANSC 307 Meats, describes it as the integrated study of "the production of meat-type animals and the science and technology of their conversion to human food." Topics include "Meat inspection," "Kosher and halal," "Meat tenderness," "Meat color," while laboratories include "Pork evaluation" and "Ham manufacturing."

I predict that the next person Trump will throw under the bus in this Ukraine ordeal is that gal Billie.

He's way deeper in this than I thought. Trump destroys everyone around him.

I'm glad somebody knows that stuff. It's ultimately about food safety for all of us.

Look at Cadet Bonespurs man up for his own damn phone calls. More 'the buck stops...way over there.' Such a leader, the only ones he can emulate are the ones he shouldn't.

Putin's cockholster wanted to shoot people in the legs like Netanyahu, now he's throwing underlings up as scapegoats like MBS.

Weak, but I guess it's a step up for him over admitting to his offenses.

Yes really. Not only could he not remember what it was called, he also did not know that DoE is responsible for overseeing everything nuclear including nuclear weapons. Only the best people.

Remember - Trump has a very good brain and only hires the best people who must also have good brains.

Trump: Waah, waah, it's not my fault, Perry made me do it.
