Must really sting that they created more jobs than your community organizer. Can't have that, got to attack success and American job creation at the source!

Given how it is determined Who created Jobs, Perry loses by default. Perry gets Texas Jobs, Obama gets Texas Jobs and all other Jobs created in the other 49 States.

Still buying that line hook line and sinker.

The facts are Texas unemployment has gone up, and will be up again for August and September.

Notice how Texans brag brag brag about how well things going for them but as soon as they experience some natural disaster they come crying to the rest of us for help.

Karma is a bitch Texans, it's a bitch.

Hey at least Rick Perry has that hair thing going for him. As Bubba Clinton said "He's a handsome devil" Hey it's better to look good than to be intelligent, at least for Republican politicians. Perry and Palin are perfect exmaples of that.

Yep, just keep spending untill we even have to borrow money to pay the interest on our debt.
Thus........... Rick Perry should raise taxes on Texans or cut spending elsewhere in the budget to pay for the fire fighting capabilities to put out the statewide fires?

The attack is against that jackass Perry's arrogance. His direct line to God schtick has been debunked.

Sometimes, and ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. If there were more supports for firefighting in place without the budget cuts, I think it's pretty easily argued that it would have saved far more money than was "saved" by cutting the budget. This is a case of tripping over a dollar to pick up a penny.

Would you suggest to a homeowner with a car to skip purchasing insurance for the car and the home? Cutting back on fire fighting essentially is the same thing.

Since I'll be busy later tonight, I'll also answer your response to this... some sort of idiotic argument again about cutting the budget and the homeowner should give up the car or something. That, in this analogy, would be equivalent of getting rid of all those homes and forests. If you have homes and forests, then you NEED adequate firefighting capabilities. That is, until the firefighting costs exceed the costs of the losses you would have without firefighting. That's a pretty laughable proposition.

Perhaps you should stick to making pizzas and leave the thinking to the rest of us.. you are just making yourself look silly. I'll speak slowly and use small words because I understand you and your ilk have trouble understanding this:

We can't afford it.

As best I can tell the Texas budget is ~90 billion dollars. Give or take a couple billion. Are you seriously suggesting we can't provide firefighters and other state services for 90 BILLION DOLLARS?!

EVERYTHING needs to be cut. EVERYTHING. I understand in your fantasy world where Obama sends tingles up your leg "The Messiah" can prevent every bad thing from happening to everyone. However, here in the real world we realize that is not true. We need to scale back spending - If that means some trees will burn and some houses will burn in a drought ravaged state, then so be it. Homeowners should have insurance to cover it.

We can't stop every bad thing from happening, we can only try our best within the economic means we have.

Burn.....baby.....burn!

Remember the Alamo!

Guys, WE CAN'T AFFORD TO PUT OUT FIRES. There won't be any tax increases to put out fires either. If half our state has to burn down, so be it. Shit happens.

I have to say I genuinely love FNE, his combination of earnest belief and complete stupidity really brings a smile to my face. You better hope you never have a forest fire near you, I don't think you're going to be running away from it.

People and companies do it all the time. You spend money on education/equipment/infrastructure and return on that spending pays for the debt.

Conservatives are ideologically opposed to investments in the future. Even when that future is a wildfire burning down your house.

We can't stop hurricanes either. Or earthquakes. Or tornados.. or tsunami's.. or meteor strikes.. or floods. I guess in the liberal mind Obama could have perhaps just given a speech and stopped the hurricane from hitting the east coast? Why couldn't those liberal havens have appropriately spent their money toward protecting themselves against the recent storm? Perhaps more spending toward infrastructure, sewers, sea walls, etc would have stopped the flood damage? Apparently the east coast couldn't afford it either. 🙄

It is quite telling those here celebrating the destruction of people's lives for being a conservative state. I guess that is not really surprising from the tolerant left.

We can't stop all terrorist attacks either. But we seem to have the billions every year to spend.

Yes i'm really impressed by Texas' 8.4% unemployment and gigantic budget deficit. BTW, Taxachusetts, the state i'm from, has a lower unemployment rate.

Budget cuts had no effect whatsoever on the fire fighting ability here in Texas.

yeah, well don't expect anyone not living in Texas to understand that.

The driest summer in history and people are blaming Perry's spending cuts. jeez louise.

you know what they say about statistics...

Of course, our nonfarm employment has gone up higher than anyone else, soooo.... unemployment rate that has gone up very slightly is a result of A) population growth and/or B) layoffs in government. A is hard to determine, but very likely as more people migrate south and B is fine by me.

beautiful..!!!. We are also fighting 2 wars, why is there no national tax for wars. The US military budget [just the published] probably eclipses all other countries combined.

4 trillion wars , one stupid and one badly managed. if the US wasnt sucking up to pakistan [terrorist state of Pakistan] , the war would have been over at Tora Bora caves many years ago,

Cut taxes. Cut taxes. Cut taxes. Deregulate. Deregulate. Deregulate. For eight years the Repubs kept chanting, propagandizing and executing with maniacal fervor exactly what they were preaching under Bush/Cheney, and what did we get to show for it after those eight years? More gov't bloat Repub style and eyebrows deep in debt.

Yeah, that really worked out well....for the very rich and ONLY for the very rich. Sucked to be anybody else though.

Yet here we are again with the Repub Pres. candidates chanting the same frick'in message they earnestly put into action under Bush/Cheney, assuming we all suffered selective memory loss from what the Bush administration and the conservative ideology they freely operated under did to the country under their watch.

Yet millions of Americans are going to vote for more of that which got us into this fine freak'in mess we're presently in.

The Repubs haven't earned back the trust they think they self-righteously deserve from America. If anything, the Repubs have proven they can't be trusted to look out for ALL Americans as their agenda has been made perfectly clear for all to see right after the 2010 elections.

With near maniacal fervor, they immediately went after the middle class and the poor through union busting tactics, blitzkrieg attacks on all fronts against social programs, gay rights and ironically, the freedom of choice for women to decide what happens to their own bodies.

Their answer to creating jobs? The same "plan" they put in place when Bush/Cheney took power and simultaneously owning both houses.

Look how well that worked out for the middle class and the poor huh?

Their broken propaganda record is still continuously skipping back to the same proven failed lyrics and the same proven failed music.

It didn't work. It needs to change, but it hasn't. Has it?
