Is 3 years really enough time to recruit into an embarrassing program?
Is Michigan the next Notre Dame?

They probably should have gave him another year. He improved his Michigan's record each year. They're not going to get Harbaugh (Stanford Coach).

My guess is that's why we're seeing the backpeddling. Make no mistake - he was fired at some point yesterday. Then they realized Harbaugh - who UM burned previously - wasn't biting and that they might lose a star or two.

Word around town is that it's been obvious since at least Monday that Harbaugh wasn't interested. I don't think anything happened yesterday afternoon that suddenly changed the situation, but who knows.

I think Brandon made the decision weeks ago, or at the very latest immediately following the bowl game.

His system was a lousy fit for the school/conference and the decision to hire him was the first of many following problems.

He may have been a bad fit for traditional Michigan football, but his offense averaged 500 yards a game this year (6th in Div 1). Denard set the record for rushing as a QB and is the only player in history with 1500 rush yards + 1500 pass yards. He only runs a 4.75 40 as well (Pat White was way faster and a better passer)...

All in all, Rod is probably one of the best Spread Offense minds in the game today given what he did with Robinson's first couple of years. Not paying attention to defense was his downfall and any team he goes to as an OC will be beastly if he gets 5 years with them.

Whatever happens, I just don't care for the guy much. I won't pretend to know a lot about him, but his character seems a little suspect. The manner in which he left WV wasn't great, and then he gets slapped by the NCAA right out of the gate at UM.

At least he wasn't the whiny little bitch that Lloyd Carr was.

Bolded part is bullshit.....

From Wiki: He has run the 40-yard dash in 4.32 seconds, and he recorded the fastest competition time in 2010 among Michigan's sprinters in the 60-meter dash.

Eh, he got in trouble at Michigan for something that happens a lot of places, but some players weren't happy about the new coach and whined.

Him leaving WV was pretty shitty, but that seems to be par for the course in college football.

I'm still not sure why a lot of these guys go from the schools they've built up to try and overhaul bigger places where they're going to have more problems and less freedom, and basically no chance at success.

mgoblog's updated with a nice writeup of potentials...I'm in the incredibly small group of people that wanted RR to stay around but I realize why he got fired and have no complaints. That said, unless we pull a great hire out of our asses, M fans aren't going to be any happier for the foreseeable future.

sigh.

At least we'll have a kicker next season? Unless he decommits too, LOL.
