Here is the deal. Ignorance of the law is no excuse. But to further provide a context to his ignorance. This douchebag was caught in 2008 poaching a black bear in an illegal zone of WI. Then transporting it 40 miles to a legal zone to get away with it. His excuse? He didnt know what he was doing in 08 was illegal. Sound familiar?

He didn't break any laws. His guides allegedly did. Anyways, it doesn't look like he imported the trophies yet either.

He broke the same laws as his guides. Hunting without a permit.

His "trophies" were confiscated. It's too bad he was able to escape the country of Zimbabwe but at least his $50k "trophies didn't.

Its what he and his guides were likely going to try and do with this kill.

The other messed up thing is the next lion in the pack will kill the cubs (6).

So he murdered a lion and 6 lion babies. Sweet guy.

Hunting deer for meat in season is a responsible thinning of the herd. I eat cows, pigs, chickens killed on my behalf so I have nothing against someone killing and eating deer. This is different.

So what? People are mad and finally in the history of the world many people can come together and reckt someones life. He deserves it. This is what justice looks like. If you dont like it dont go kill endangered species unless its under the circumstances I outlined earlier.

Really? This is justice? Mob rule?

1) It's "wrecked"

2) WTF do you mean "finally"? Mobs have been coming together to wreck other peoples lives since mankind had enough men to form a mob. All that's missing here are torches, pitchforks and hysterical villagers shouting "witch"!!

Not saying that he doesn't deserve it, just that you have a deeply flawed understanding of human history and the role mob justice played in it.

The difference is now those mobs can be eating Cheetos in their underwear while "participating" in mob behavior.

Also, the mobs used to be maybe a few dozen people. Now you can get more people than it took to overthrow France during the Revolution piling on because a florist doesn't like gay people or a dentist wants to poach lions or whatever. I'm not saying that these people are in the right, but the disparity of response that the Internet can create in exacting justice has gotten a little absurd. That's why I'm hesitant to give in to the schadenfreude on display in this case, even though I find the dentist's actions reprehensible and morally indefensible.

this is why i hate social justice warrior vigilantes.

so he fucked up, let the law deal with him.

Nope law is not strict enough when it comes to animals, let everyone fry him. I hope he goes bankrupt and his life is ruined.

Pisses me off that some rich people feel so entitled that they can go kill endangered animals. It seems to be some kind of trend. Elephants are often a victim of this too and at the current rate they will be extinct in about 10 years.

People who do this should be tied up to a tree in the middle of the Savannah.

If I was rich I'd actually want to use my money to help animals not destroy them. 50k could seriously help a local animal shelter expand capacity for example. But if I was millionaire I'd probably do even more than that.

Not to nitpick, but put your imaginary money towards wildlife habitation or something like that instead of local shelters.

I'm a douche, so I wouldn't miss it if a few tens of thousands disappeared off the face of the earth (I'm assuming that is barely a dent in the collective shelter populations). I don't think a bunch of mutt chihuahuas, pit mixes, or random cat breeds are going extinct any time soon. I'd value this one lion over those thousands of mutt dogs/cats.
