No Type-R stickers? No windshield banner? No racing stripes? No Kanji symbols? No foglamps? Normal lenses on the headlights?
What kind of halfarsed job is this, anyway?

Nissan is very good at making ugly cars. I don't see why people actually add to the ugliness by adding those kits...

UGLY?????
I think nissan makes some really good looking cars compared to the overly bland honda's and toyota's out there.
They're not porsche's or lamborghini's or ferrari's or anything like that!-- they're just cheap economy cars.. what do you expect?

No matter how fast it is, it's too forkin' small! Of course I realize safety doesn't mean much to some people!

  • "7th Generation Civic has all-around 5-star safety rating.
    Where's your "unsafe" econobox now?"

    MUWAHAHAHAHHA
So? You think that's funny? I think American consumers are STUPID for getting sucked into these Japanese econo-clones! Don't worry about your family's safety, at least you're getting good gas mileage! :|

Forcing ever-smaller automobiles on the American public will exact a terrible price.
by Daniel R. Levine
  • "Forcing automakers to build vehicles to meet a drastically higher gas mileage standard would cost us more money, limit our choices and endanger our live. Just ask Tim Kauk, whose two-month-old son was left without a mother after the head-on collision of their subcompact car: "Every time you go out in a small car, you're putting your family's safety on the line. The sacrifice is not worth it."
Report says vehicle safety ratings confusing to consumers
From the Journal Sentinel
  • "Many consumers likely believe a 4-star compact car protects them in a crash to a similar degree as a 4-star van or (sports) utility (vehicle), when in fact they are significantly more likely to be injured in a crash when occupying the smaller vehicle," wrote author Patrick Anderson of Anderson Economic Group."
Status of Injury and Crashworthiness Consumer Information
TranSafety, Inc
  • "Large, heavy cars generally offer more protection to their occupants, with fatalities in lighter vehicles averaging two to three times the fatalities in heavier vehicles. Because of their additional size, larger vehicles allow more "crush space" to absorb impact."
The Issue: Do real-life safety statistics warrant an insurance discount for larger vehicles?
  • "State Farm Insurance, the nation's largest underwriter, will begin offering discounts to drivers of safer automobiles. Critics charge that the plan will "legitimize" larger vehicles that pose a danger to smaller cars. But the new policy actually reflects sound risk management."
When Heavy Meets Light
  • "...So the statistics show. In 1996, 41,207 people died in traffic accidents, 35,579 of them within their vehicles. Crashes between LTVs and cars resulted in 5,259 fatalities. Of these, 81 percent, or 4,260 fatalities, occurred in the cars. Clearly, the passengers in the larger vehicles came out ahead. But that doesn?t make the LTVs the villains of the piece. Because it?s not just the mismatch in size that makes cars less safe. Fatal crashes between two cars caused 4,013 deaths, while LTV-LTV crashes resulted i n far fewer fatalities: 1,225. Even if we correct for the difference in the numbers of each type of vehicle on the road, it seems obvious that if everyone drove an LTV, far fewer bodies would be hauled off the nation?s highways every year..."
Safety Pointers for Car Shoppers
  • "Larger, heavier vehicles generally are crashworthier than smaller, lighter ones. First, larger vehicles typically have longer crush zones, which helps protect the safety cage in one- and two-vehicle accidents. Plus, the extra weight offers additional safety in two-vehicle crashes -- as the heavier vehicle plows into the lighter one, some of its momentum is transferred to the other vehicle."

I think a Skyline engine is overdoing it. You'd probably be better off with an SR20DET for your 240/Silvia platform, IMO.

It's opinions like these that make me sick, and it's opinions like these that are filling our roads with blundering, occupant-of-the-other-car-killing SUV's. The SUV buying trend is like an arms race. Each person is trying to outdo the other by having the biggest, heaviest, most-steel-surrounding machine on the road. If you own an Explorer, you'll get totalled by the Suburban. So better buy the Suburban! I gotta have the biggest and most cumbersome beast on the road, because I don't give a F*CK about anyone else!

I wish gas prices were 4 dollars a gallon. Americans are too reliant on cars. No wonder 60% of the population is overweight: we use our giant land barges to go a block up the street to pick up a gallon of milk! Of course this is getting off topic, so back to the topic at hand. If everyone drove more fuel efficient cars, we'd All be better off. No arms race for auto safety mentality, less reliance on Middle Eastern oil, longer use of our oil supplies, and less pollution. And if cars were more fuel efficient, we'd end up paying the same net amount for gas. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Btw, RB26DETT is an awesome engine.

Damn, I thought our average American econobox consumer sheep would shut their pie holes after all that linkage, but I guess not:
  • "...Even if we correct for the difference in the numbers of each type of vehicle on the road, it seems obvious that if everyone drove an LTV, far fewer bodies would be hauled off the nation?s highways every year..."
Let's all put our families on Vespas and Mopeds for the ultimate in safer highways!

The downfall of Detroit falls squarely on the shoulders of American consumers. Detroit was king of the boulevard cruisers. The Japanese couldn't begin to compete with big Detroit iron back in the '70s. But our consumers just handed them the keys to our auto sales by demanding that Detroit play the game Japan's way. Nice... :disgust:

Thank God for the consumers that put the F-150 America's best selling vehicle. The SUV craze is your reward for shoving these damn econoboxes down our throats. You sir, MAKE ME SICK! :frown:

I noticed Europeans in general were more fit since most people had to use any other means of transportation other than a 4 wheel vehicle. Notice, I didn't say motorscooters

edit: I like the Toyota Tundra...aka: F150 killer

I'll give you one giant link: Europe. Small cars are the norm. High speed highways are the norm (in case you didn't know, they drive A LOT faster than we do here). Fuel efficient, lower-poluting cars are the norm. Are they killing each other on the highways in record numbers? No. Are traffic fatalities at levels above that of the States? No. You can post links to "experts" all day, but the entire European Union is living proof that people don't need giant 5000 pound boats to survive their trip to the grocery store.

<snicker> Their Socialist/Communist government is taxing their asses off on gasoline or they would buy decent sized cars too! I almost puked when I happened to notice what we pay per gallon in taxes... 44cents for a gallon that costs $1.02. That's outrageous! Guess I shouldn't complain though, eh? ;)

Sorry for the major rant. This has bugged me since the early '70s, when the Pinto and Vega were Detroit's answer to the Japanese invasion. And there wouldn't have been an invasion if there wasn't the demand. Hey, I'm the odd man out and I know it. I should just count myself lucky I can still buy a decent sized car of any kind. And there's still the great American pickup. Kudos to Toyota for the Tundra, but it is modeled after an American design, not the other way around. Can't wait to see their answer to the Expedition! :Q
