Did it ever occur to you that the tab the government is picking up consist mostly of old and disabled people. It may come as a shock to you to find that their medical bills are substantially higher than most peoples.
Hence the need for Carousel...renew...renew...renew.

Didnt you post this thread yesterday?
No, that was another state.
Seems it is going badly across the nation.

Then Ill respond like I did yesterday.

What, your faith in the state is being tested? And you want to expand this to include everything for everyone?
Why does Medicare work so well and the drug plan so poorly? Because Medicare was designed with the intent to provide health coverage and the drug plan designed to make money for the insurance companies and the drug industry.

You figured it out, now come up with a plan to fix it.

Medicare doesnt work that great, it is bloated and things cost 3x as much as it should.

Medicare is administered at a cost of less than 2 percent compared to the up to 30 percent of overhead of private plans. In fact US Medicare is the world leader in cost effectiveness.

The administration costs may be lower but lets take a look at the per head cost overall. I do know the govt managed to pickup 46% of all medical costs in the US in 2003. Private insurance plans picked up about 38% with the rest paying cash or other means.

I am curious what % of the users the govt picked up. I am guessing it is nowhere near the volume seen in the private industry and the costs are much higher.

Technically I am paying medical premiums in the form of my taxes at a rate of about 200 a month. For that I get nothing back. I can go out and get an insurance policy with a 1000 deductible that costs me 88 bucks a month.

Exactly what I was going to say but you beat me to it.
Seems fanatical "free marketers" refuse to believe the basic tenet of the free market. The less you pay out the more you keep for yourself. With that in mind it is any wonder that private insurance companies have the largest legal staffs in country with the goal of defending their denial of services?
