I have a dual boot Win2K and Red Hat 7.3 with KDE , the RH side is about five times slower. All my hardware are detected correctly and supported, so what should I be looking for.

what kinda hardware we talking about?

KDE/Gnome are quite simply beefy so even on decent hardware you'll definatly notice them dragging ass compared to windows.

Are the issues discussed in that article just as relevant now with 7.3 running on all new hardware? It's worrisome that RHL could be wasting much of the potential of my controller & drives and I haven't seen this issue raised in performance tuning (or, better, standard system installation!) discussions yet.
