I would like to know when I buy a product with RFID tags that are hidden.

Is there a wand type device I can wave near the product to alert me of the presence of the RFID tag? Or even read what information it is transmitting?
 
Yes, there is a handheld device that reads it.
As for what is written on it, that can be proprietary, it just depends.
 
Is this like secret technology or something because I cannot find products to just detect RFID tags. The only thing I see is DIY projects.
